Vaya slipped her phone back into her pocket and looked at Hayden's notebook, nodding. "Hey, if there's ads then it'll really feel like back in the day when I'd watch it with my grandma and grandpa." She joked, plus free was always good, she could stomach ad breaks when necessary.

Hayden nodded his head and went back to working on his knowledge and questions he thought they should check into. The bell rang several minutes later, and Hayden was shocked to find himself not running from the classroom as soon as possible. He quickly turned to the next empty page in his notepad, wrote a quick message before turning it back to the last page before he started grabbing his things to leave.
‘So, library?’
He asked only that, slightly worrying about where to watch the show, if he should invite her to his room or wait for her invite. He slightly grimaced at the thought of his room, dirty clothes all over the floor, the bed unmade, and he was sure there were old plates from the cafeteria.

The bell ringing made Vaya flinch in her seat and she mentally cursed herself for the action but it wasn't something that she could control. Her body seemed to act on its own and ignored any form of logic. She got up to move her seat back to its spot but stopped when she saw him write. She read his messaging and paused, not expecting him to really want to get to work right away but instead of wanting to avoid working on this project she was still interested. She gave Hayden a smile and nodded, "sure, we could probably get one of the study rooms." She said, figuring if they had privacy it would make it easier to focus.

Hayden noticed the little flinch from Vaya at the bell, but of course he didn’t say anything, but he figured even if he could talk, he wouldn’t say anything. When she mentioned a study room, he almost sighed out loud with relief, glad he didn’t have to be embarrassed about his room.
‘Study room works. As long as they are available.’
He slung his backpack onto his shoulders and picked up his pen and notebook, wondering how busy the library would be, hoping most students wouldn’t want to continue working after school, but he knew there were some competitive kids here.

Vaya frowned a little bit, she hadn't thought about the rooms being taken. "I guess we should probably hurry over there then." She said and gathered her stuff back at her original desk than walked over to Hayden, shifting her books to her good arm. "Ready?"

Hayden nodded and wrote another message on his notepad while she walked over to her original desk before returning. He nodded again when she asked if he was ready but held up his notepad as they headed for the door along with their classmates.
‘I can ask about research material if you want to grab a room?’
He suggested breaking off for the tasks so that they could get a room and not waste time getting the material they might need and lose out on a room while doing so.

Vaya read his notepad as they walked and nodded, "yeah I can do that." She agreed as they entered the hallway and made their way to the library. It was weird, she thought, usually she would put in her ear buds and ignore the world but now that she had someone she could actually talk to that urge didn't come and her ear buds stayed in their case in her pocket.
Once they got to the library Vaya split up from Hayden, going to get a study room but after a few minutes she was searching for him through the stacks, eventually finding him and frowning a little. "Bad news: all the rooms are taken."

Hayden nodded his head when she agreed to the plan, though something told him even if they headed there now, all the rooms would be occupied somehow. He flipped to the next page, where he’d written ‘The Plague’ for the librarian a few minutes ago, happy that the librarian didn’t ask questions and would just write the information down for him.
Once he got what he needed from the front desk and split from Vaya, he headed into the aisle that had the information they needed and started pulling the reference books from the shelves when Vaya found him. The look on her face told him everything he needed to know before she spoke. He placed his stack of books on a random shelf before grabbing his notebook.
‘Of course. How do you feel about working outside?’
He still couldn’t bring himself to ask her over to his dorm room and only hoped this solution worked or she had another idea in mind.

Vaya frowned a little when he asked about working outside, she could already feel the bugs crawling over her, making her want to shudder. "Why don't we just go back to my dorm? I have snacks." She shrugged, not really nervous about sharing her space, she was usually pretty clean, unless she was baking. That was one of the few places where she let herself let loose.

Hayden nodded his head, swallowing a little lump in his throat before picking up his stack of books and headed for the front desk. While his books were being scanned in, he flipped to another page and started writing.
‘If you’re sure, and if your roommates are okay with me there.’
He didn’t want to disturb the peace, willing to do anything to keep the world around him from falling apart again.

Vaya tilted her head and shrugged, "they probably won't even notice you're there." She replied, Petra was rarely even in their dorm and Shannon was currently holed up in her room, which wasn't much of a change in how she typically was. Vaya doubted that today would be anything different and doubted that either of her roommates would really care if they just stuck to her room.

Hayden nodded and grabbed the stack of books before motioning Vaya to lead the way, still a little nervous, but figured the worst that could happen was some girls screamed at him. He fell into step next to her, feeling a little guilty that he couldn’t carry a conversation while carrying the stack of books, though it didn’t take long for them to reach the girls dorm lobby.

Vaya didn't mind the silence as they walked, it let her keep track of their surroundings. She didn't think this school would end up like her old one but then again...no one knew when someone who was angry and had access to gun would go off on a rampage. She only relaxed when they got to her dorm and she lead him inside. "My room is through that door," she pointed it out to him, "I can bring in the coffee table for us to work on."

Hayden slowly walked into the common area of her dorm room, looking around, finding it the same layout as the boy’s dorm, but they hardly decorated the space. He nodded his head and made his way to her room, planning to put the stack of books down before helping, but that’s when the screaming happened.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN SARAH J MAAS!”
Hayden stopped in his tracks and slowly turned around to face Vaya, wondering where that came from and what that meant, and lastly, was he safe to stay in this room.
“This can’t be happening.” Someone sobbed from behind one of the other doors.
Hayden guessed it was one of her roommates, but she sounded like she was going through a breakup or something. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow in questioning, hoping Vaya would and could explain.

The yell made Vaya flinch and she mentally cursed at herself for doing so. She should have expected that Shannon had gotten to the more...emotional parts of the book, hell she had even warned her but despite that she still couldn't seem to control her body's reaction. She gave Hayden an apologetic smile. "I'll be right back." She grabbed a box of Kleenex from the counter and walked to Shannon's door, knocking twice before walking and holding out the box. "I warned you."

Hayden stared, unable to move as if the cry of whatever beast lay behind the door had him frozen in place with fear. He watched Vaya pick up a tissue box and headed for said door, wondering how she could brave going into its lair. Since she seemed to have whatever happened under some control, he placed his stack of reference books in Vaya’s room, took a quick look around before returning to the common area and picking up the surprisingly light coffee table.
“Go away… I’m mourning.” Shannon hated the feeling in her chest from crying, but she couldn’t stop herself. Not when her favorite group of people just died on the pages she was reading. She glared slightly at Vaya as she took the box from her, feeling the need to just run hit her hard like it always did when her emotions ran high. “It can’t get worse than this.” She mumbled sadly, though worry over Dorian had her dreading the last two hundred pages.

Vaya returned Shannon's glare with a raised eyebrow but was glad she took the Kleenex box. "Kleenex help with mourning," she shrugged but grimaced when she glanced at the page Shannon was on, confirming her suspicions. "You'll see, I'd be more...reassuring but I don't want to spoil anything."

Hayden set the table on the floor in Vaya’s room and listened, hearing murmuring of voices from the other room Vaya had disappeared to. He figured it was a breakup, though he hadn’t met another student named Sarah J Moss. He sat down at the table, sitting criss cross before pulling his bag over and pulling out pencils and notepads. He didn’t mind getting started while she comforted her friend with whatever was going on.
“Great…” Shannon felt her stomach drop, knowing she had to continue and would, she’d worry about Dorian when she continued reading. For now, she had to process losing twelve witches and couldn’t help but immediately feel for Manon. She’d go for a ride, wanting to clear her head and prepare for the last two hundred pages.

Vaya grimaced slightly, knowing who Shannon liked the most out of the books and wished she could tell her he would be okay. "I want to tell you but I know you'll kick my ass if I tell you and ruin the build up." She said, stepping back a little but offered a bit of a smirk.

Shannon just waved Vaya off with a tissue, going back and forth on which outfit to wear while riding, her mind bouncing back to what had just happened and making her sniffle again at the memory.

Vaya frowned slightly but nodded, "alright, I do want to talk about it whenever you can finish it." She offered before stepping out of the room and closing the door behind her. On her way to her room she stopped, getting some bottled water from the fridge and a box of cupcakes she had made in the shop before going into her room, offering Hayden a smile. "Sorry about that, but I got some drinks and a snack." She said, nudging the door closed with her foot and sat across from him, placing the cupcake box and water on the table.

Hayden gave her a soft smile as she placed a bunch of snacks onto the coffee table he brought in and shrugged, showing her, it wasn’t that big of a deal. He was curious to know what happened, like any normal human would, but he also understood it wasn’t his business. He grabbed a water bottle, immediately chugging a fourth of it, before signing to her ‘thank you.’ Though he wasn’t sure she would understand what that meant.

Vaya raised an eyebrow at how much water he drank in one go, "a little thirsty there?" She joked then watched his hands, a slight frown pulling down at her lips as she tried to understand what it meant but she wasn't going to let that hold her back as she used process of elimination to figure out what he could have meant. "Was that...you saying thank you?" She asked.

Hayden chuckled light at her joke, nodding that he was thirsty because he’d forgotten his water bottle. He waited for her to figure out what he had said, thinking it shouldn’t be too hard, but he wouldn’t get upset if she didn’t. Hayden nodded with a bright smile when she figured it out on her own, also motioning the sign for ‘yes’.

Vaya looked back at him for a minute, his smile catching her off guard by just how...happy he looked. It made her feel sad as she thought about how hard it had to be for him, stuck in a world where most people couldn't communicate with him. It made her angry but also part of her felt like she had to do...something but she didn't know what. She took one of the bottles and twisted off the lid, glancing at his hands again. "And does that mean...yes?"

Hayden beamed a little when she got it, even if they were simple words and usually easy to figure out, it was nice to have someone other than his cousin to sign to. He didn’t think about how he came to being mute, or that it was hard to communicate, he was just happy. He quickly handed her a book and pointed to the questions he figured could be answered by reading it, though he wondered if she should start working on the power point instead.

Once again his smile had her feeling a little speechless, her chest tightening a little when she realized that she had made him smile and part of her whispered to make him do it again. "Huh," she said as she took the book from him, "I guess I'll actually be learning something today." She joked before looking at the pages and nodding.

Hayden nodded, hoping he wouldn’t bore her with the research they had to do, or the subject, but he thought it was kind of cool. He thought about how they might be able to turn this into a wheel of fortune theme power point, hoping she wasn’t going to ask him to wear a dress, though he would at least dress up a little nicer that day.
‘You can always work on the power point.’

Vaya looked at his notebook and nodded, "I know, but I want to help out with finding the information too," she told him and smiled a little bit at him. "Once I have some info then I'll know how to lay this out better." She told him.

Hayden nodded his head in understanding before getting back to work, having to pull out his laptop eventually to see if he could get more information the textbooks were lacking. About an hour later he sat back and stretched, thinking they had done a good chunk of work done, glad that he hadn’t procrastinated like most of his classmates would want to.
‘How much information did you find?’ he wrote Vaya, hoping she found what she was looking for, and had some ideas for the power point.
