Ben rubbed the back of his neck, "yeah, I finished a little earlier than I meant to so I was going to get a soda," he said, "and...create an alibi to keep me from being in the room first." He explained, "but I would have helped you out either way. People who pull that kind of shit piss me off...I guess they're the red flags and I'm the bull." He joked.

Winnie slowly nodded her head as the pieces slid into place, thinking he probably was on his way to buy a soda, just had been in the right place at the right time, for her. She felt her face flush again at the fact he had helped her. "Thanks. Again. The girls the reason my bag broke." She pulled at some grass in the ground, wanting to focus her attention on those blades of grass instead of how the girl took scissors in art class and had cut her bag open at the bottom.

Bens eyes narrowed when she mentioned the girls breaking her bag. "What did they do to it?" He asked, trying to keep his voice even as he spoke but he could feel the irritation growing inside of him. He knew he couldn't get too aggressive with girls considering he was a guy but he was sure he could scare them enough to stay away.

Winnie shook her head, "Doesn't matter, they broke it. I've got a new one ordered." She shrugged her shoulders, forcing a smile on her face even if she felt a little twinge of sadness for the bag. She just had to be better about protecting her stuff in the art room, wondering if Mr. Ruth would let her keep her stuff at his desk. She hated asked for that kind of favor, but most teachers loved her, and were willing to help where they could.

"That doesn't make it okay though," Ben pointed out, knowing there was nothing keeping them from doing it again. Maybe he'd have to repay the favor so they knew how it felt. He ran a hand through his hair as he thought, he may have been a 'bad kid' but that didn't mean he didn't have his own set of morals and would just leave someone to suffer when they didn't deserve it.

Winnie shrugged, she knew it wasn't okay, she was sure the girls did too, but that didn't stop them. "I don't worry too much about it, that's the first time this semester they actually cared about me." She chuckled lightly, knowing last year, Freshman year, it had been a lot worse. Now that they were both finished with dinner, Winnie was itching to get back to her dorm room, wondering if her friends were online yet. "But uh, thanks again for knocking that guy…" She smiled at the image of him getting rammed into the wall, knowing she shouldn't feel good about someone getting hurt, but the guy and his friends were assholes.

Ben frowned, not buying her uncaring attitude. He'd be needing to keep an eye out in the hallways for sure now. He reached over, taking Winnie's tray and stacking it on top of his. "Yeah, no..." He trailed off, for a moment getting lost in her eyes and the way they seemed to shine in the light. He felt frozen for a second before quickly blinking his eyes, "no problem, I'll do it again if I see them fucking with you." He said, clearing his throat a little.

Winnie watched as he grabbed her tray, feeling a little strange that he was taking that for her, but she felt odd reaching for it now. She found it equally weird when he stared at her, cutting off his sentence, and his gaze made her legs feel useless if she tried to stand. She shook her head, breaking the spell and standing up, "Thank you, but I hope it won't happen again." She had a feeling it would, and with her luck, Ben wouldn't be around to help. "Um, I'm. Winnie… By the way." She added, realizing he didn't know her name during this whole odd situation.

"We'll see, tell me if they do." Ben replied but he doubted she would, just having a feeling that she'd rather take it than get help to end it. He looked up at Winnie as she stood, staying down in his spot, "I'm Ben."

Winnie wasn't sure how she would tell him if they did, though it wouldn't matter then because it would be after the fact, unless he was just somehow there. She looked to the right before turning back to him, having already known his name thanks to the teacher that called him out in class. "Guess, I'll see you around then." She said with a small smile, taking a few steps back.

"I guess so." Ben replied as he looked back at with a slight smile, wondering if they really would see each other again outside of class. He shrugged off the thought, still deciding within himself that he'd keep an eye out in the hallways.

Winnie suddenly felt awkward, unsure how to end the conversation before she waved really quickly before turning around and headed for her girl’s dorm. Of course, she was going over the last part of the conversation in her head, scolding herself for how awkward she had just left it at, but she didn’t think he’d seek her out, and they probably wouldn’t see each other outside the one class period. She sighed, knowing her mother would have a few choice words about her behavior, but she wasn’t here thankfully, and Ben would probably never talk to her again.
