Sam shook his head, "we're all split up." He told her, surprised that the twins had been split up, it would have been fun to share a dorm together but at the same time...he could see them all getting pretty sick of each other quick. "But it's fine, we'll make it work." He reassured, not wanting her to worry, she had enough on her plate as it was. He nodded as she explained what she would do, "do you think your parents are going to make you get your own place or something?"

Reign frowned at the thought of them being split up, but she did remember that everyone was split up by grade, making it a little easier to be friends with people. Though she felt like the school should at least keep the twins together, “Well, at least ya’ll are at the same school for once, wonder what convinced their parents to keep them here.” She smiled softly, glad that Sam wasn’t alone at school. “I don’t think they would, but if it feels awkward to be at home I don’t want to stick around forever.” She was sure at first it would be awkward, since both her parents wanted her to finish college, but hopefully it wouldn’t be awkward forever if they saw how hard she was working. “Plus, then I could host parties and you and the twins can come by.” She teased, elbowing him slightly with a chuckle, knowing she wouldn’t want them to get in trouble, but at least she could keep an eye on them.

Sam shrugged, "I'm sure the twins just kept asking until their parents finally caved in." He chuckled a little, knowing the twins could be extremely annoying if they wanted to be." He gave her a gentle squeeze and nodded, "well you're only nineteen, it's not like you're supposed to get your whole life together by now, and you know I'm not much into parties, unless it's a bonfire." He chuckled a little.

“Sounds like something they would do,” Reign was always amazed with how the twins could figure out how to get what they wanted. She leaned into him more when he squeezed her, her thoughts slipping back to her parents once more, making her a little worried about her own future. “Well, it wouldn’t be like, a big college party. Even if it was just you, we always find something fun to do.” She smiled, knowing even if they spent the evening watching dumb movies, she’d have fun. She frowned before sitting up, though she turned to leaned towards Sam, "Can I ask you a serious question." They weren't serious that often, but she could count on him when she asked him to be.

Sam nodded, laughing a little bit, it had made growing up a bit of a challenge when the twins ganged up on him, but he did learn how to deal with them when he needed to. "That's why bonfire parties are the best." He replied, liking how the forest could be quiet with the exception of the spot illuminated by headlights and flames. He turned to her slightly, frowning a little. "Uh...sure."

Now that Reign had his attention, she panicked slightly about what had just ran through her mind. “I was just thinking,” she said, trying to get her ducks in a row before asking, in case she changed her mind about it. “I know you’re still in high school, but we’ve know. Each other for a long time,” she felt herself rambling as she felt the urge to just spit it out before detailing. “Let’s make a pact,” she blurted, grabbing Sam by the hands with her own, “if we are married, say by the time I’m thirty?” She raised an eyebrow, worried that he wouldn’t get what she was saying or worse, wouldn’t want to agree to such a thing. “If I’m not married by thirty… would you want to get married?” He’d be two years younger, so he might want to wait longer.

Sam stared back at her, his eyes going wide. That definitely was not what had been expecting. "Get married?" He repeated slowly, he highly doubted that Reign would still be single by the time she was thirty and him? He didn't see himself ending up with someone but not Reign. "Well, okay," he smiled, "if we're both single by the time you're thirty then we'll get married." Though as he said it he just felt like this was all silly.

Reign sat back, the tighten feeling she had felt in her chest letting go when he agreed, “Sorry… I just. I don’t want to end up like them.” She wasn’t sure if she’d find someone, she’d dated around plenty, but no one actually wanted to continue the relationship to that more serious next step. “At least we could run your place and mine and turn it into one property.” She wasn’t sure if that was even a good idea, but she figured it might make it easier on the two of them.

Sam softened, shaking his head, "I don't think you'll end up like them Reign, it sucks your parents divorced...it doesn't really make sense but..." He sighed, "it's not like...a prophecy for you." He tried to explain but struggled a little with the words, not sure if they really made sense or not. He smiled a little when she talked about combining their properties, they were definitely close enough to make it feasible. "That would be pretty cool." He agreed, but didn't see a reason to be worrying about the future so much right now.

Reign sat back down on the platform like they didn’t just have a moment. “I know, but I’d rather be safe than sorry?” She grimaced, unsure if that sounded bad or not, because it didn’t sound great. She nodded her head, “Do you want to take over your parents place?” She hadn’t even asked him that, unsure if he wanted to stay in a place with ghosts from the past or not.

"Okay." Sam nodded slowly, letting her sit back down as if they hadn't just made a huge pact that impact the rest of their lives. Maybe she wasn't as serious as he thought she had been. He didn't answer right away as he thought of his parents place, taking a deep breath. He knew the home itself was being rented out to help out his uncle and keep the place running but he didn't know what exactly would happen when he was old enough, he tried not to think too much about it. "Uh, I guess, I mean...there isn't a reason not to."

Reign wondered if Sam was going to eventually find someone meant for him before then. She couldn’t think about that now, she was sure she wouldn’t find anyone, so she forced herself to pay attention to Sam before dep diving into worry. “Well, if you didn’t want to. That’s a good enough reason.” She wondered if he wanted to work the place, she knew not everyone felt like she did.

"Yeah but it's my parents place, I can't just let it go." Sam shrugged, feeling like not only would it be betrayal but it would also be a way to lose what connections he had to his parents. His memories were already foggy enough and he didn't want to lose one of the physical things he had. "There's no point in worrying about it yet, I still have a few years until making those decisions."

“Yeah, such a young kind, your whole life ahead of you,” Reign teased, ruffling his hair a little before moving to sit on the edge of the platform. “Are you going to be too busy with school to be at the dance hall?” She asked, wondering if he’d dance with someone else since she’d be working.

Sam grumbled, shooting her a glare as she messed up his hair, sure he looked like he had just went through a tornado or something. He reached up, pushing his hair back down as he continued to look at her, a twinge of worry in the back of his head. "I don't think so." He told her, slowly moving over to sit by her again. "Are you gonna miss me too much or something?" He teased.

Reign giggled at his glare, knowing he didn’t like it, but he tolerated her somehow. She raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on her lips, “Of course I’m going to miss you. I missed you a lot while at college.” Even though she hadn’t moved that far away, it was far enough to feel homesickness, especially for Sam.

"Aw, I'm honored." Sam teased her, finding himself relaxing further the longer time they spent together, feeling like they hadn't been separated at all. It had been hard without Reign to turn to but he wasn't going to hold her back from going out and exploring life even if it meant her forgetting him or making a life without him. "I missed you too, there was no thorn in my side." He joked.

Reign gasped, her mouth dropping open in shock before she gently pushed him, “Rude.” She rolled her eyes, but she was smiling, feeling completely at home finally. “You better have missed me.” She poked him in the side for emphasis, though she hoped he didn’t use her as a reason to avoid living life.

Sam laughed, letting himself fall to the side on the platform, rolling onto his back and looking up at the sky as the clouds passed. "Really now?" He joked, stretching his legs and dropping them across her lap. "Would it make you feel better if I told you I sat by my window ever since you left counting down the days until you came back?" He teased.

Reign thought about pushing his legs off her, but she welcomed the warm feeling she felt where their legs touched. “That would make me very sad and very happy at the same time.” She admitted that she hoped he missed her, but again, he shouldn’t pause his life for her. “I hope you seriously didn’t do that but missing me is okay.” She joked.

"Oh no, I didn't do that." Sam said as he folded his arms under his head, continuing to watch the clouds. "I filled a dozen note books with sonnets all about how much I missed you." He teased, he barely even know what a sonnet was besides some kind of poem thing.

Reign rolled her eyes, “Now I know that’s a lie, you? A poet?” She laughed, moving her legs from underneath him as she lay down next to him on the platform. “I guess you could be a secret closeted poet, but I honestly can’t see it.” She scrunched up her nose, a smile playing at her lips as she tried to imagine Sam reciting poetry.

"You think I'm not a poet? How rude." Sam teased, turning his head over to look at her, "see if I ever show you one of my poems." He joked, reaching over and lightly poking the end of her nose with his finger.

“If you haven’t shared any poetry with me, I’ll think you paid someone to write it,” Reign pointed out, giggling as he poked her nose. “If you really have written something, I’m sure it’s good. Much better than what I could write.” She chuckled, wondering if Sam was the quiet closeted poet all these years, but he hadn’t hid anything from her before.

Sam laughed, shaking his head. "Do you even know how to write?" He teased, putting his hand back under his head as he stared at the clouds. Was he hiding a secrete poetry talent from Reign? No, would he make her believe he was? Absolutely. He liked pushing her buttons and messing with her just to see how far he could get.

Reign rolled her eyes, “Yes, I’m not a heathen like you,” She joked, even though she never had the pretty handwriting that other girls seem to be born with, and it never matter how hard she tried to change it, her handwriting still looked like chicken scratch. “When do you have to go back to the dorms?” She wasn’t sure what they’d do before then, but since she had his attention, she didn’t want to lose it.

Sam laughed, "uh huh, I don't know if what you scribble can be considered writing since you're supposed to be able to read what you write." He teased but was unable to stop himself from frowning when she mentioned the dorm. "The day before school starts."

”Hey, I can read what I write. Maybe not a lot of others can,” Reign shrugged, not caring if others could read it anymore since she didn’t plan to continue college, it wasn’t like much of her stuff was being published anyways. “Which iiiiiiissss when.” She wanted to know the exact date, not approximately. “I don’t even know when school starts.” Though it seemed like moving into the dorm should be a few days before school starts to give kids time to at least settle a little.

Sam chuckled softly, shaking his head. He continued to watch the clouds, picking out a couple shapes in his head until she spoke again. He shrugged, "like in a week, on Monday. I don't really pay attention, I'm just going when Silas tells me to." With Reign he didn't feel the need to call Silas Dad, she knew his story and he didn't have to worry about a pitying look because of his misfortune.

Reign made a face, “Only a week? Should have left college sooner.” She pouted, though she had to take care of things first before being able to head back home, she hated that it took all summer to do. “Do you know who you’re rooming with?” She had to say, the rooming situation at this school was much better than college, where she found herself cramped into a small room with two other girls, fighting for bathroom time, space in the closets, and one roommate accused her of sleeping with her boyfriend.
