Elizabeth shrugged her shoulders to shift her backpack into a better position as she opened the door to the library. She always found it easier to study here, a result of her having to avoid many of her parents’ parties to get any work done. It was quiet inside, and she couldn’t help but take a deep breath in, enjoying the way the library smelled of books. She checked in at the front desk and headed to the study rooms, finding them occupied, something that both irked her and made her actually proud to attend this school, since at least some students took grades seriously. She found her room and unlocked the door but what she found inside wasn’t an empty study room. It was still occupied by none other than Lewis. She narrowed her yes at him, “Excuse me, as of eight O’clock this is my study room.” She pointed out, and her watch showed her eight-oh-two.

Lewis was busy working on an AP history paper that was kicking his ass. His brows were creased as he referenced one of the books he had checked out when he heard the door to the study room. He didn't look up, not wanting to lose his spot but then that face made the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He frowned slightly, putting his finger on the spot in his book before looking up at Elizabeth, eyes narrowing. "Your watch says it's 8:02, you're late, so I think you've lost your turn." He said simply before looking back at his book and taking a note in a spiral notebook.

Elizabeth rolled her eyes, “I checked in at the desk at eight, it takes two minutes to walk here. The room is mine.” She stepped into the room before he could respond and placed her stack of books from her arms onto the table. “Find somewhere else to study.” She crossed her arms over her chest, knowing though that if they got too loud they’d both get kicked out, like last time.

"No." Lewis replied, continuing to take notes but frowned when she put her books on the table, making his hand shift a little as he wrote. "I was here first." He added and looked back to his book. He was already set up here and he'd be damned if anyone, especially Elizabeth, tried to force him out.

Elizabeth’s mouth dropped open when he still refused. “Yes, but I signed on for this room.” She said through gritted teeth, looking out into the library, finding there wasn’t another spot to work from, and she hated working on the tables out in the open. Despite it being a library, people were often still a little loud, groups would work together, or friends tried to study, but would often goof off instead. She sighed, swallowed the scream that was building up in her throat, “Fine. But I’m staying too.” She said, pulling the other chair to the end of the table that was empty and set herself up there, planning to slap some headphones on and ignore him the rest of the time till he gave up and left.

Lewis shrugged, he didn't care about how signed up for what, he thought it should be a first come first serve basis. He glanced over at Elizabeth as she sat down, making a spot for herself. "Suit yourself then." He replied dryly and turned his attention back to his books.

Elizabeth muttered under her breath on how annoying everyone had been that day, setting up her laptop, stacking her books in the right order, and grabbing the notebook she’d taken notes in during class. It wasn’t long before she fell into a rhythm of typing, researching, flipping pages, disappearing into the world of English, writing the last paper of the year already, since she had already finished the others.

Lewis glanced at Elizabeth, rolling his eyes at how dramatic she was being before looking back at his work. He continued to take notes and work on his history paper, lips drawing down into a frown as he tried to concentrate and make sure his citations were correct before moving on but soon realized he needed another book that was out in the library but he wasn't about to leave the study room, thinking that Elizabeth would lock him out the second he left.

Elizabeth heard it, a strange pause in the air as if something suddenly changed. She stopped typing the paragraph she’d been furiously typing, and the train suddenly derailed. It only took her a moment to realize he had stopped working. “What is it?” she asked, before her brain started chugging along, as if the derailed cars weren’t just smashed down a cliffside. She wasn’t sure what had made him stop, but she was far too busy in her work to really care, but it had thrown her off for a moment, and that’s what bothered her.

Lewis figured he could try to Google his way out of his predicament when Elizabeth spoke, making him frown as he looked at her. "What? You care?" He asked dryly, turning his attention back to his work and typing away into his computer.

“You’re disturbing the peace?” Elizabeth said, her tone indicating that he should have already guessed that even if she was the only one who noticed. “Whatever you gotta do, I’m too busy to mess with you.” She waved him off, her eyes turning from her laptop to her book she had propped open, flipping through the pages until she found what she was looking for, her finger started skimming the pages quickly.

"Funny, I could say the same thing about you." Lewis replied with a snort, keeping his focus on his computer as he responded to her, frowning a little when he couldn't find what he was looking for. "And I'm not going to believe a word you say." He added, glancing down at another one of his books and flipped it open to look through.

Elizabeth stopped working and looked up just to glare at him, “Want to join the others out there in the main room?” she asked, feeling like she was the one who was disturbing the peace the least out of everyone, but he could have given up her study room if he was upset about it. She shrugged when he said he wouldn’t believe her, digging into her backpack for the headphones she had forgotten to grab when she was angrily setting up, and started up her study playlist, ready to go back to ignoring him.

Lewis looked back at her, rolling his eyes. "You're so dramatic." He replied, shaking his head and wondering how she got through life with being so pushy. He sat back a bit in his chair, stretching his arms above his head and sighing as he took the moment to give his fingers a break.

Elizabeth couldn’t hear him with her headphones on, the classical music blasting through the earbuds, but she saw his lips moving and could easily guess it was about her. She rolled her own eyes for a reply before diving back into her work, not willing to let his problems or whatever stop her from beating him.

Lewis glanced at her and went back to work, focusing in on what he needed to do and eventually losing himself in the process as the rest of the world faded away. He was so close to finishing his rough draft when all the lights shut off. His head snapped up and his gaze narrowed, "what the fuck?"

It was going well, her paper was almost done, just needed all the citations in the correct format and, the lights shut off. Elizabeth whipped her head up and looked around, pulling her headphones off, “What did you do?” she asked, seeing as she hadn’t moved at all, it couldn’t be her, but she hadn’t noticed him move at all either, but she wasn’t sure what else it could be. She stood up and walked to the door, lifting the blinds to see an empty, quiet, and dark library. “Shit, what time is it?” She asked, moving back to the table in search of her phone.

Lewis’s head snapped over to Elizabeth with a frown, “what the fuck? What would I do?” He asked her, getting irritated by the accusation but got up, walking over and opening the study room door just to see that the library was dark with the exception of auxiliary lights. “You gotta be shitting me…”

Elizabeth ignored Lewis getting upset over her accusation, she forgotten she had accused him when she came to the realization that they were locked in the library alone. “I can’t believe this. I set an alarm and everything!” She cried out, finding her phone in her backpack, completely dead. “Shit.” She sighed, guessing she wasn’t going to be able to make any calls out to get them out of the library. She crossed her arms and followed Lewis out of the study room, “Is your phone working.” She asked like a statement, eyeing the librarian’s desk and guessed they could try the phone there.

"Apparently you need an alarm to remind you to charge your phone." Lewis snipped at her, for someone who acted like a know it all she apparently forgot it all too. He glanced over at her then turned away, leaving the study room as he took out his phone, eyes narrowing when he saw it didn't have any bars for service. "What the fuck?" He muttered.

Elizabeth glared at Lewis with his comment, wishing on some far-off falling star that his pillows were never cold, and he’d find he always struggle to plug his USB’s. “It must not have charged last night.” She muttered to herself as she made her way to the main desk to see if the phone would work, hearing him curse under his own breath, smirking.

Lewis glared at the betrayal of his phone, holding it up in the air as he walked around the library, looking for some sort of service but it was becoming a bust. He glanced over at Elizabeth, shaking his head, "whatever." He said under his breath, wondering if he tried to open the doors or windows it would set off an alarm and if that happened would they get in trouble for it? It wasn't their fault they were stuck here in the first place.

Elizabeth sat at the desk and picked up the phone, but as she looked down to where you’d possibly punch in the numbers, she found only buttons that called out to specific places. “What the actual fuck.” She slammed the receiver down before jogging over to the front door, reaching it at the same time as Lewis. She grabbed one door handle while he grabbed the other, and pulled at the same time, only to find it was locked tight. “WElP.” She said loudly, throwing her hands in the air before heading back to the study room, ready to work a little longer since there was no getting out of here, why waste time.

Lewis frowned at Elizabeth when he heard her swear and slam the phone then practically storm the door. He watched her, shaking his head as she went back to the study room, holding back a sigh. "Great," he muttered under his breath, figuring that by the end of this one of them would probably be dead...by the hands of the other. He rubbed his forehead as he slowly walked back to the study room but then paused, pivoting and walking farther into the library.

Elizabeth sat down and stared at her computer, suddenly feeling the desire to work and show up Lewis drain on her, and she didn’t feel like diving back into what she’d been working on. “Great, hopefully the rest of the night wont a total waste, spying Lewis heading back to the study room, but then randomly walked off, causing her to frown. She pushed the desire to follow after him, not wanting to seem like a stalker, but she was curious to know where the hell he was going.

Lewis glanced over his shoulder, though he doubted Elizabeth would have any interest in what he was doing but wanted to make sure before slipping between two book shelves and looking over the small selection of romance books that must have been donated years ago and ignored ever since. It was a dirty little secret he had, liking cheesy romance novels but they did make him happy when he read them. He pulled one off the shelf, turning it over and reading the back curiously.

After a few minutes of silence, staring at the wall, her mind going a mile a minute, Elizabeth stood up and left the study room to find what Lewis was up to. She first checked the bathrooms, part of her betting he went to relieve himself, but it was empty. She frowned before she started walking all the aisles until she spotted him in a random corner looking at books. She squinted to see what section it was, and it took her only a few seconds to realize it was the romance section. “What the fuck.” She quietly whispered as she watched him from afar.

Lewis tilted his head when he finished reading the back of the book, finding it a bit interesting and opened it up to the front page. He doubted Elizabeth had any interest in finding him so he didn't think he necessarily needed to be sneaky in his reading choices. He read the first page then flopped to the next, finding the writing style not too terrible but also not the best either but he could tolerate it.

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, wondering if she put her money on him just being bored because they were locked in the library, or if he really liked reading these types of books. She stood straighter as he seemed to be doing more than just flipping through the pages, making her bet on the latter, and she couldn’t help but wonder what his favorites were. She frowned, telling herself she didn’t actually care, because his favorites were probably trash.

The book was good enough to keep Lewis focused through the first couple pages so he figured he'd be safe to walk away and sit in one of the couches to continue his read. He turned to head to the area set up by a wall of windows when he saw Elizabeth, the relaxed features of his face sharpening and pulling into a frown. "Is there a reason you're standing there like a creep?"
