Autumn wasn’t sure if her picking the movie was a good thing or not, “You won’t hate me if I pick a Disney movie, right?” she teased, getting up with him and grabbing his empty plates, feeling a surge of happiness that he’d liked it. Though he could be lying and just trying to be nice, which was possible, she’d come to find Charlie didn’t have a mean bone in his body. She started washing up the dishes she had used, racking her brain for a movie to watch, unable to get away from thinking of her favorite Disney movies, ones she could watch over and over again.

"Nope, Disney is always good." He said, thinking that he doubted he could ever hate her just from the time they've been spending together. He looked through the kitchen cupboards, finding a jar of popcorn and turned on a burner on the stove, setting a pot on top of it and tossing some butter in and waited for it to melt before tossing in the popcorn kernels.

Autumn sighed and went with the first movie she thought of, one that always made her sad, and reminded her of growing up. Before her parents started worrying about how much she was making as a star, before the auditions, and spotlight, before she grew famous. She sighed, hoping to live out the rest of her days like that again, though she wasn’t sure how long she needed to be in hiding to achieve that. She looked over at Charlie and instantly felt like she was already enjoying it. “Wow, I haven’t had popcorn made like this in years.” She was used to the microwave popcorn by now, using seasoning to make it taste a little better.

"It's the only way my mama would make it." Charlie chuckled, glancing over at her, "except she had to use a way bigger pot with all of us at home." He told her, reaching over and giving the pot a shake as he waited for the kernels to start popping.

“I still can’t believe how big your family is,” Autumn shook her head, but she was smiling at the thought of being a part of one big family. She put the last of the dishes in the dishwasher and started it up, “Do you want something to drink?” she asked, figuring she could at least make that while the popcorn was still popping.

"I know." Charlie laughing, knowing they often got weird looks when going through town but when he thought of his childhood most of it had been amazing and he had always hoped that one day he'd have a big family but with everything that had happened he felt that dream start to slowly wither away and die as each day passed. "A drink would be great." He said, shaking the pot again to make sure everything was getting an even amount of butter and heat to keep popping.

Autumn walked over to the little section he had for drinks and made herself a drink, “What would you like?” She asked, though she knew his regular drink order, but might have changed his mind, or wanted something different. “Out of your entire family, you’re the only medical one?” She asked, wondering how that happened, but she knew entire families that did the same thing, like all becoming nurses of some kind.

"Just what I always have." He told her, looking over at her with a smile. "Yeah, Mom and Dad have the dairy farm, Leo does construction, Beck flips houses and does whatever he does with real estate, Markus is a teacher, and the best part is that Aleah is his boss," he chuckled, "then Moira is a stay at home mom, and Stephanie is some kind of consultant for a big business-I've never really understood what she does except that it requires her to travel and make a lot of money." He chuckled, grabbing a bowl from under the counter and emptying the popcorn into it, grimacing when it started to overflow, "think this is enough?"

Autumn smirked when he said his usual, already making it before he could finish that sentence. He listened to him talk about his family, wishing he could meet a few of them, just to ask them about Charlie, about him as a kid, maybe his parents might have a few embarrassing baby photos. She giggled softly at the thought before turning to see him and his overflowing bowl of popcorn. “Uh, it’s never enough popcorn.” She joked, holding out his drink to him as she popped a few popcorn pieces into her mouth, enjoying the taste of melted butter deliciousness.

Charlie laughed, making sure all the popcorn made it into the overflowing bowl. "I hope you mean it because this all needs to get eaten." He teased, holding the bowl as carefully as possible as he started to walk towards the couch but a few kernels fell on the ground. He shot the fallen kernels a frown like they had done him a great betrayal. "This is why I need a dog, to follow me and clean up my mess."

Autumn followed after him laughing, picking up the few kernels that fell to the floor, “I’d love a dog, it’s been years since my childhood dog passed.” She sadly thought about Marley, the family yellow Labrador they had gotten after her sister had read the book and wanted one. She tossed the floor kernels she picked up onto the coffee table before taking a seat on the couch next to him. “I’ve decided we are watching Encanto.” She informed him as she picked up the T.V. remote and started hitting buttons to get to the movie.

"I haven't had a dog in a really long time," Charlie said, briefly thinking of Yasmine and she claimed to be allergic so he wasn't allowed to have one, not even willing to take allergy medicine or let him have an outside dog. Maybe now he could have one, but his work schedule did make it hard..."But I don't really have a work life that allows it, I'd feel bad leaving a dog in a kennel all day." He said and as he sat down, looking over at him. "Never seen it."

Autumn frowned, looking around the apartment, wondering how long he had been living alone. “Ah, yea. I understand having a crazy work schedule.” She nodded her head, thinking she’d love to have a dog, she had the home, the money, but the time was what she lacked. She whipped her head towards him when he said he hadn’t seen the movie. “You haven’t? Well… I apologize if I start singing along to the songs.” She laughed, though she wasn’t kidding.

Charlie nodded but couldn't stop himself from sighing, "maybe some day I'll work less hours so I can have one." In the mean time maybe he could get a little pet, like maybe a guinea pig or a lizard. He stuffed some popcorn in his mouth but paused mid chew when she saw him staring at him. He quickly chewed and swallowed, "it's okay, I'll only judge you a little." He joked.

Autumn felt her heart sink, though she didn’t think him working less hours was a bad thing, reminding herself it was for his mental health more than seeing him more. She opened her mouth to suggest she would be here to take care of a dog while he was gone, but she didn’t want him thinking she was going to be here forever, especially when she should be finding a house. She giggled and shook her head, not really caring if he judged her or not, having a feeling he wouldn’t. The movie started and of course the first song she started singing was ‘Family Madrigal.”

Charlie was oblivious to whatever thoughts were bouncing around in her head, instead settling back into his spot on the couch as the movie started, instantly focused on the bright colors. His foot bopped along to the music and he chuckled when the kid with the coffee addiction yelled at Mirabel about her powers. "That's how I feel after having coffee." He chuckled.

Autumn laughed, "I wish it was like that for me still," She thought about how she felt a more calming wired feeling when she drank coffee, having the ability to stay awake if she need to, but also easily fall asleep if she went to bed. She felt for Maribel, even if she was more of an Isabella, in being the older perfect child, but she felt like she was nicer about it.

Charlie chuckled, "I live off the stuffed, I don't think I can function without it, especially at work." He said, some shifts making him feel like he was stuck dragging his feet and being barely half awake. He went quiet as he watched the movie, tilting his head a little as he took in the family dynamic his heart hurting a little at how Mirabel was being treated, glad that his family at least wasn't like that.

Autumn let the scene of Maribel being left out of the picture, "What made you decided to go into nursing?" She asked, wondering what prompted her to try acting, feeling like one minute she was in high school, the next she was in L.A. acting on sets for T.V. shows. She did enjoy acting in school plays, but it felt nothing like those days anymore.

Charlie paused, eyes trained on the movie as he considered her question. "I wanted to help people," he said, "but I didn't know how, nursing seemed like a simple choice since I'd literally be hands on and life just kind of kept pushing me that way. I didn't plan for pediatrics but that's where my-well-where my heart took me." He said with a small smile, "it's hard but if I can cheer up one kid just by being there I want to do it."

Autumn nodded her head, feeling like she could understand that. She couldn't help but smile when he said his heart took him to care for the children in the hospital. "Were they scared of you at first, or did you walk in with like, a clown nose on your face." she teased, thinking he'd have to pull a Patch Adams, even though she had found him to be a sweetheart immediately.

"There's definitely a few that were scared," he chuckled, it still happened now but he'd learned how to break down the walls, how to take it easy and slow and what jokes to crack or smiles to flash in order to ease those feelings. "But I know how to break down their walls, plus wearing my Disney lanyard breaks the ice." He chuckled, the lanyard hanging from its usual hook holding his work badge and printed with Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc.

Autumn chuckled, "That explains why you wouldn't hate me putting on a Disney movie," She teased, edging a little closer, making it easier to reach the popcorn bowl, but also made her closer to him, only a few inches between them. "Do you get to wear fun looking scrubs?" she knew a few hospitals allowed that, but she didn't see every scrub pair he wore.

Charlie chuckled, "naw, they're better than some of the random stuff they make now." He said, sinking back into the couch, his shoulder brushing against hers. "On Fridays we can wear whatever scrubs we want but the rest of the week we wear teal," Charlie explained, reaching for another bite of popcorn, "so I have a couple Disney sets that the kids like."

"I guess I haven't seen you wear them yet then," Autumn smiled softly, leaning a little into his arm, taking a kernel of popcorn and tossing it up in the air and catching it in her mouth, "What are the kids favorite set that you wear?" she was sure there was a set that made the kids happy to see the characters. She reached for more popcorn, waiting for his answer as her eyes moved back to the T.V. screen, 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' song was playing and she loved all the harmonies coming together in this scene.

"I guess not." Charlie chuckled, knowing his hours made it hard for them to interact at times, it was one of Yasmine's biggest complaints when they were together and no matter how many times he tried to change to help her it was never good enough but...he hadn't gotten that from Autumn, yet. "They like my ones that are Brave themed, some kids say I remind them of Merida's Dad." He chuckled, figuring it was probably because he was so large and had a bit of a reddish tinge to his hair.

"Guess I'll have to force myself to stay awake longer," Autumn smirked, betting with enough coffee she could stay awake, see Charlie, and then go to sleep. She didn't have a set schedule, and it was going really well for her, she didn't mind messing up her sleep to spend more time with him. She laughed when he said they thought he was like Merida's dad. "I can totally see it. I should have picked that movie instead." She giggled again, finding the comparison perfect.

Charlie chuckled, "just on Fridays." He teased, not thinking she'd actually do it but the thought did count. He laughed at her giggles, shaking his head, "some kids think I should really grow out the beard but I don't think I could maintain it like that, plus I don't think the hospital will appreciate it, I already push the limits with my hair." He said, thinking of when another kid that he was Stoic from How to Train Your Dragon so he'd specifically gotten scrubs just because of that.

Autumn turned to look Charlie over, having already made up her mind when she first met him that he was good looking. "Honestly shocked the beard hasn't been unknowingly shaved while at work," She teased, not sure what the policy was for facial hair, but she figured as long as you kept it clean there wasn't a problem. "Girls have long hair, it shouldn't be a problem right?" she had seen some long hair on some nurses, though that was back in L.A., wondering if it was different at every hospital.

Feeling her gaze on his Charlie turned to look at her, tilting his head a little. "I've been lucky," he chuckled softly, "I'd like to think my work ethic makes me a bit of an exception." He joked, glad that where he worked seemed to be more laid back than previous places he'd been though all of this comfort made him wonder...how long was he going to stay here? Part of him said for other and the other thought of back home, if Yasmine had ever wanted him back but now that he thought of her the usual pang that accompanied it didn't seem so sharp.
