Will yawned as he headed out the side door from the security office, Nigel taking over the next shift as he got ready to go home, cook some dinner, and hopefully pass out. He headed for the parking lot next to the gym and decided to see if that was all closed up and finished after the dance, knowing it should be at two in the morning. The gym itself was dark minus the safety lights, and it seemed the decorations, food, and every student was cleared, but he did see one person at the door, "Was it a wild party?" he jokingly asked Aleah, seeing her lock up the gym door.

Aleah hummed softly to herself as she locked up the gym, tugging on the lock to make sure it se when she heard someone call out to her. She jumped a little bit, not expecting someone to reach out to her but when she turned to see Will she smiled, "not too bad, the kids seemed to like it." And that's what mattered to her. She could imagine how hard it was for some kids to have to leave everything they know behind and start somewhere new and she hoped that dances and different activities gave them chances to meet new people and make friends to make this experience better. She slipped her keys into her dress pocket, "you on your way home?"

Willie grimaced slightly when she jumped, feeling a little bad that he scared her, though he should have known he walked quietly with his years of training. "Good, I heard it blasting music for hours, so I assumed it was." Jesse had also texted him, telling him he had a great time with some kid named Jake, and was already back in bed listening to her favorite True Crime Podcasts. He had to talk about that with her, but forced that thought out of his mind when she asked him something. "Huh? Oh, yes. Going home, going to make some brinner, maybe watch a movie." He shrugged, having not heard her at first, but his brain caught up eventually. "Hopefully you are too." He chuckled, though wondered if she'd want dinner, or brinner.

"Yeah, there were a couple of kids who just didn't seem to want to leave." Aleah laughed softly but it warmed her heart to see everyone having fun, even if she ended up a little tired herself from chaperoning. "Brin...ner?" She raised an eyebrow, "that's a combination of breakfast and dinner I take?" She asked, wondering if that meant there would be more breakfast foods or dinner foods, either way food did sound good. "I probably should eat something," she admitted, figuring she might pick something up from a fast food place on the way home since she'd driven her now functioning suv.

Will chuckled, "Wow, must have been that good then," He joked, wondering what kept those few kids wanting to stay at the dance, guessing it was either the music, or the food. He waited for her to connect the dots herself, nodding her head when she did, "Yeah, just a little breakfast for dinner." he admitted with a light laugh. When she admitted she should probably eat something, he couldn't stop himself, "Why don't you join me? I usually make too much anyways." He was still getting used to making dinner for more than one and was often left with leftovers for the next day.

Aleah smiled happily, hoping the next event she put on would be as good of a hit. She stepped away from the gym, figuring the two of them could walk to the parking lot as they talked but stopped when he offered for her to join him. She hadn't been expecting that but the offer made her smile. "Sure, I always make too much too." She laughed a little, one of the things she missed about being with her ex was that she could cook as much as she wanted and the food was always eaten, she could still do that for her brothers but it still...felt empty.

Will turned from the gym with her, knowing that even if she didn't say yes to dinner, he'd walk her to her car since it was dark. Even though it was a school, you just never know what might happen. He continued walking a few steps after she had stopped, but forced himself to turn around and face her, wondering if she was shocked he had asked, not sure of why. He worried for a second that she'd say no, but sighed a little when she said yes. "I hope you like breakfast food." Was all he could think of saying, feeling suddenly a little awkward in the situation.

"Who doesn't?" Aleah asked with a smile, starting to walk again and finally stopping when they reached her suv, resting her hand on the door handle. "I think the only breakfast food I don't like is oatmeal." She said with a slight shudder, absolutely hating the texture of the stuff. "But anyway, I'll follow you to your place?" She asked, tilting her head.

"There's a few people who don't like eggs?" Will said, thinking of a classmate in high school who hated the taste and the smell of eggs, and had been bombarded with eggs one year for a prank. He was sure the guy would grow up to be a villain that took out egg farms everywhere because of it. He shrugged his shoulders,, "Oatmeal's not bad when you add things to it like brown sugar or fruit." There was also the option of making it a savory, which he'd found reminded him of grits.

"They're missing out if they don't like eggs, they'll be missing out on french toast, which is the best kind of breakfast food." Aleah said, not able to imagine not liking eggs, sure on their own they may be a bit much but they made too many other good foods to not like. She leaned her hip against her car as she looked at him, not entirely convinced. "I don't know about that, I still think I'd have to pass." She joked.

"They really are," Will chuckled, knowing he'd probably die a little inside if he couldn't eat eggs. "Ah, French toast is really delicious." He had learned though, that you had to actually toast the bread first, which would make sense. The French toast he had tried to make for Jesse that first time, were soggy and disgusting, but he learned and found out how much he actually liked cooking. She leaned against the car and he couldn't help but smirk a little, "Ah, well. I won't make oatmeal this time, but I promise, I'll bring you the best." he chuckled as he pulled his keys out of his pocket. "Want to just follow?" he asked, thinking it was late enough she shouldn't have a problem following him to his apartment.

"French toast is probably my favorite, besides biscuits and gravy." Aleah said, thinking her mom made the best kind of biscuits and gravy back home. She raised an eyebrow when he said he'd bring her the best oatmeal, part of her looking forward to that and making her smile. "I'll look forward to it then," she said and unlocked her car. "Yeah, I'll follow." She told him, glad that she had opted to drive her suv today instead of the bike, it was a chilly evening, even if she were to change from her dress into a riding outfit.

Will figured he'd make French toast then, seeing he had plenty of left over bread now that Jesse was at the school, it took him twice as long to get through a loaf of bread. He nodded his head and headed for his car, thinking over what kind of oatmeal he should try first as he drove to his apartment, parking and waited for her in the parking lot before leading her up to his place. "It's not much, but probably comes across as a bachelor pad." It was sparse inside, he didn't own a lot of things after what happened, and since Jesse spent the majority of her time at school, she had most of her stuff there.

Aleah got in her car and followed Will to his place, parking by his car then followed him inside, looking around a bit curiously. "It does," she teased, "but it's not bad, way better than my brothers places." She joked, out of all of them Markus probably had the most homey looking of places, actually decorating instead of their other brothers whose places were pretty bare and plain.

Will put his bag and keys on a table by the front door and led her inside, "Make yourself comfortable," He chuckled, knowing the couch was so comfortable he'd fallen asleep randomly throughout the day. "Glad that it's not the worst." he turned on more lights in the kitchen and started gathering ingredients to make French toast. "Do you want a drink?" he asked, having a variety of juice, alcohol, soda, and of course, water.

"Alright." Aleah walked over to the window, peering out at the view, "this is really nice." She said before moving over and sitting on the couch in the corner, twisting so she could see him in the kitchen from where he was. "Honestly, I'd love some coffee." She said, wanting to get some extra energy to stay up.

Will looked up towards Aleah, smiling softly, "Yeah, I needed a two bedroom apartment. This was the only unit they had left, but I have to admit, it's pretty nice." It gave him a good view of the little town, mountains, and the street below. He busied himself with turning on the oven so he could toast a bunch of bread all at once instead of in the toaster, since that would take too long. "I have… Coffee yes." He said, quickly rummaging through his makeshift coffee bar that Jesse had set up before moving into the dorms. "Do you like cream or sugar?" He asked, turning on the coffee machine and filling it up with water.

Aleah smiled back at Will, propping her chin on her hand as she watched him, "well this is certainly a nice one, you got lucky." She said, smiling a little when it took him a minute to say he had coffee. "I like a little bit of both," she told him, liking her coffee to have just enough sweetness to fight off the bitter.

Will smiled, thinking maybe his luck was changing with the rough years after his wife had passed. "I think so too, hopefully my luck stays that way." He wasn't sure how long it would last, but he'd ride the luck till it ran out. Once the coffee was brewing he started working on setting up for the French Toast dip, before handing her the cup of coffee, and cream and sugar containers. "Coffee is bitter, but you get used to it the more you drink it." He'd gotten over the terrible taste when he was on the force, usually unable to get sugar or cream most of the time, but black coffee was always available.

"I hope so too," Aleah said to him, familiar with how it felt when it seemed like nothing could go right no matter how hard you tried. Aleah happily took her coffee, adding in the right amount of cream and sugar until she was happy with the tan color of the coffee rather than its odious black. "Yeah, I'd rather it be sweet." She told him, "a few of my brothers drink theirs black but she couldn't stand it.

Will didn't slow down though, working on making eggs and bacon to go along with the French toast, part of his mind going through his memories. He was pulled back in when she mentioned needing it to be sweet, and chuckled. "Well, a lot of the time I couldn't get sugar or cream. It was rough without coffee though." He would feel tired and unable to focus until he learned to deal with it black.

Aleah sipped on her coffee as she watched him make breakfast, the smells making her sit up a little. "I don't think I could go without coffee," she laughed a little, "I've been told I can be mean in the morning without it." She joked, "why couldn't you get cream or sugar?"

"Ooof, mean without coffee. I've heard differently." Will teased as he started on the eggs, finishing up the bacon and French Toast and started plating everything. "Ah, everyone was busy. Didn't really have anyone to get cream and sugar all the time." It was a smaller town, very few guys on the force, most of the time he was out on patrol like the rest of them.

Aleah laughed, shaking her head, "wooooooooow." She smiled a little as she found herself sinking into the couch, it really was comfortable and part of her wondered where he got it and if she could get one for herself. "Oh, okay, I see," she nodded, having almost forgotten his job history. "You know, it still surprises me that you chose to come and be a school security guard."

Will chuckled, knowing it was a lie about her, he hadn’t really heard anything bad about Aleah, which was why he was happy to put Jesse into the school when he was offered the job. He turned off the stove and oven, plating the last of the food before bringing it over to the breakfast bar seats, not really caring where they ate, as long as they got to eat. “It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the best for Jesse.” He knew he needed to get her away from what had happened to her mom and little brother and he needed to get away from the rumors about him.

Aleah gaze softened when he talked about his daughter, having recognized her around the school. "Well, I'm glad you two came, Jessie is a wonderful student and you're doing a good job." She said, carefully holding her coffee as she tried to get off the couch but only felt herself get deeper. "Ugh, I think your couch is eating me."

Will felt a swell of pride in his chest, hoping he was, and it was always good to hear someone say it. "It's been a good change." The less stressful job of security of a high school instead of a detective on the police force had been a good change, it allowed him to be there for Jessie when she needed him. He wished he had done this sooner, but he couldn't leave with everything that was going on. He didn't want to leave without clearing his name. He chuckled as he peeked over the breakfast bar and over the couch, barely seeing the top of her head. "Thank you, I needed someone to sacrifice to feed my couch. I didn't want to get eaten." He joked, chuckling as he walked towards his table in the little nook and brought it in front of the couch. "Don't worry, you'll be able to pull yourself out." He continued to joke as he went back for the two plates.

"Good to hear." Aleah smiled, wanting nothing more than her students and faculty to be happy with what they were doing. Aleah groaned, trying to get up again but the couch apparently didn't want to let her go. "I knew it!" She said when he said she was a sacrifice for the couch, "brinner was really for your furniture and I was a foolish victim." She joked back, feeling like she probably looked ridiculous all sunk into the couch but luckily he brought over over the table so she could set her coffee on it without the risk of spilling it and finally was able to push herself up, blowing her hair out of her face. "That was like a work out." She laughed, looking at the table then back at him, her chest tightening a little when she realized he was bring their food over.

Will grabbed his coffee and utensils last, making his way back to the couch just as she was able to pull herself out. "Well, someone has to be sacrificed," he continued to joke, taking a seat on the couch, handing her the silverware. "Sorry, probably didn't want to work out after the dance." He grimaced slightly, though he at least had an offering, the French Toast.

Aleah laughed, shaking her head as she settled herself back in so that she could properly sit while she ate. She gave Will a smile, "it's fine, it's not like I was dancing, the last thing I need is to embarrass myself in front of a bunch of teenagers." She joked, "thank you for making brinner, it looks and smells fantastic."
