Samuel grumbled to himself as he unpacked his things, shoving them into the drawer of the dresser next to his bed in the little cabin that would serve as his home for the next couple weeks. Summer camp hadn't been his idea of fun but Silas had insisted that he 'went out and made new friends' and 'did more than work all the time' which was laughable considering all Silas did was work and considering making friends? Samuel wasn't good with the whole socialization thing, making small talk felt awkward and he never knew what other people would be interested in. He already felt bad for whoever was going to be stuck with him and his awkward ass. He shoved his last shirt into the drawer and shoved it closed before sitting on the edge of the bed, running a hand through his hair

The summer camp had been a Godsend to Blake, he was sure Bobby felt the same, though he had never actually asked his brother. He had left him at the front gate talking to some chicks and headed to their cabin that would be shared with two other guys. He pushed through the door to cabin number four and looked around, spotting only one other guy. “Hey, what’s up?” He asked casually as he looked around the small place and picked a bed, tossing his backpack on it that he’d stuffed with the basics that he’d need for the few weeks he’d be staying at camp with his brother before heading off to the nearby boarding school.

Samuel eyed the door from the side after hearing it swing open, trying not to groan from his loss of solitude. He could already hear Silas's voice in the back of his head telling him this was his chance to make a friend. "Nothing much." He grunted, unable to throw a smile on his face just yet. He wondered if the other two beds were going to be occupied during these few weeks, not looking forward to sharing such a small space with so many people. He ran a hand through his hair, telling himself he needed to at east try. "I'm Samuel."

Blake felt his smile fall a little, hearing the tone in Samuel’s voice. He always had that talent of being able to tell how someone was feeling with the sound of their voice, but he could just be a little lucky. He didn’t respond to the grunted words as he looked around the place, hoping he and Bobby would get to have fun, wondering if his brother was still talking. “I’m Blake, how long are you here for?” He asked with a chuckle, trying to make a joke to ease the tension in the room.

It was almost as if Samuel could hear his uncle chastising him for not being friendly and giving him the old anecdote of catching more bees with honey than vinegar. He held back a sigh, instead mustering a little chuckle, "who knows, maybe my Dad will leave me here once he realizes how much peace he has without me screwing around." He joked a little bit.

Blake chuckled, feeling like he could easily understand that. “I’m pretty sure my father would say the same,” Though if he caught of them baking or cooking, he was sure he’d pull them out of school so fast. He’d try to keep Bobby here, to keep his father from dragging him home, but he wasn’t sure it would be possible. “Now, I get to annoy camp counselors.” He smirked, hoping to have fun hiking, swimming, and maybe make a friend.

Samuel chuckled a little, glad that it felt a little bit more genuine and this guy, Blake, seemed to find his lame attempt at a joke funny. "Right, the counselors," he rolled his eyes, "I was hoping I could skip out on most of their activities to go fishing." He said, wondering if he could pull it off. He didn't care about learning how to make bracelets or doing kayak races, he'd much rather be posted up on the side of the pond trying to catch something.

“I’m sure it won’t be hard, I heard a group of them talking about smoking later tonight.” Blake was sure it was the counselors he had overheard talking, they all wore the same shirts, and just screamed young adult counselors. He sat down on the bed, not ready to unpack just yet, though he didn’t have very much to start with, most of his stuff would be sent to Mountain Ridge. “You here just for the camp?” He asked, wondering if he was another Prep student, wondered if he had been to the school already.

"Great," Samuel smiled a little, if the camp counselors were anything like the RA's at school he didn't think he'd have any kind of issues doing his own thing instead of participating in most of the activities. He looked over at Blake, rubbing her back of his neck. "Naw, I go to Greymore too, my Dad just wanted me out of the house instead of working the ranch and being antisocial." He said, finding it easier to refer to Silas as his Dad rather than his uncle and having to explain, besides he did consider Silas his father at this point.

“Oh sweet. I start this semester, my brother and I.” Blake explained, putting his hands behind his head and leaning back on the pillows, wondering what they’d have for dinner tonight and if he’d actually like the dessert or not. “Is this school like, cool or lame?” he wasn’t sure what would make the school cool, but he hoped at least the teachers weren’t a bore and there were plenty of things to do.

"Oh nice, I've been going to Greymore since, well, it feels like forever." He chuckled a little, looking down and kicking lightly at the floor in front of him before responding right away. "Well, it's school, so it's boring," he shrugged, "but expect the dorm RA's to do much, they're pretty easy to convince to look the other way if you want to sneak out or something." Then again, if he snuck out it was usually to be with his horse or to go on a drive.

Blake was a little shocked to find someone who has attended the school for so long, he assumed maybe just the past year. He nodded his head when he mentioned the school part of was boring, which was a given. He almost opened his mouth to ask about a cooking class, not wanting to come across as a weirdo with the first guy he’d met, especially if he wanted to make friends. “Oh cool, I’m a people person, can easily do that.” He chuckled, having been able to talk a lot of hall monitors out of writing him up in his last school, especially if he made baked goods.

"Lucky you." Samuel replied pushing himself up from his bed and stretching his arms above his head, "I'm the opposite so they don't bother me." He joked a little, but it was true. Not many people seemed to want to interact with him, which he didn't care much about, it was easier that way. Lonely yes but, for so long it had just been him, his family, and this chip on his shoulder that refused to go away. "There's some kind of mandatory bonfire tonight so I think I'm gonna try my luck fishin' before it starts." He said, reaching around his dresser where his fishing pole sat, picking it up along with a tackle box but paused for a moment, glancing at Blake. "Would you...want to come?"

Blake frowned slightly when Samuel mentioned he was the opposite. “Well, for the next few weeks while you’re here, your stuck with my friendship.” He teased, though he was being serious. He didn’t see the problem with trying to be the guy’s friend when he didn’t have many of his own. Blake watched as Samuel pulled grabbed his fishing rod, feeling like he missed out on something. “I don’t have a rod, but if you want the company.” He was surprised he had said yes, since he wasn’t a people person.

"Well, at least I can tell my Dad I made one friend." Samuel shrugged, but smiled a little bit, knowing how pathetic he sounded but it was the truth. Silas would be pretty happy if Silas told him he had made at least one friend over the summer. He looked down at his rod then back at Blake, "I think they have rods to rent at the Canteen." He said, a bit surprised that Blake even wanted to go. The Canteen was a log cabin like building that was towards the middle of the summer camp that sold different snacks and some souvenirs but also handled the renting of kayaks, paddle boards, fishing rods, and other recreational items for the campers. He tucked his rod under his arm and headed out of the cabin.

Blake laughed, pushing off the bed and looking around, though he didn’t know what for, he didn’t have anything he needed to grab and still hadn’t unpacked. “I’m sure my dad would be delighted too.” Especially if he told him how manly they were being and going fishing. His father, Bobby, and him, had gone often, just to do something to appease his dad. “That makes sense, rent a canoe, go onto the lake.” That was an idea he’d like to do, maybe goof off and scare whoever was in the boat with him. He stuck his hands in his pockets and followed Samuel out the door of their cabin, his eyes searching for his brother, spotting where he’d left him.

Samuel glanced over at Blake, wondering if his Dad and his Uncle were anything alike. He started to walk towards the Canteen, not paying attention to anyone who they may have passed. He was looking forward to sitting out by the lake for a few hours before having to go to that bonfire and be packed in with a bunch of other people. "I was thinking of renting a kayak one of these days while were out here and going way out on the other side of the lake to see what's out there." He was interested in seeing what kind of animals were out and about and how big the fish could possibly get out there in the lily pads and reeds.

Blake fell into step next to Samuel, letting the silence grow between them. Out of the twins, he didn’t mind silence, though it usually didn’t last very long. Bobby was worse than he was though, instantly wanting to always fill the silence. Telling a story or a joke, maybe talk about some cake flavor the two of them were trying to make. “That sounds like fun, I would totally be up for that.” He figured Bobby would be too, maybe. “Think we’d see any bears?” he had heard there were black bears in the area, but most avoided civilization since the town was strict on not feeding or drawing their attention, wanting to let them stay wild.

Samuel was glad that Blake didn't talk senselessly while they walked, people who did that often annoyed him. If someone was going to talk they might as well make it about something entertaining or important instead of random bullshit. He glanced over at Blake, nodding his head and wondering if he really meant that or if he was just saying it to have something in common. He stepped into the Canteen, a slight smirk on his face, "I dunno, if we do I'll make sure to run faster." He joked, looking around and spotting a small refrigerator that held worms and grabbed a container of them.

“I haven’t been to a camp before, so I’m kind of wanting to do the whole camp deal,” Blake explained, feeling like he needed to express why he wanted to go in a kayak, or go fishing. Most summers he spent in the auto shop with his dad and brother. To learn the family business. He chuckled, “I’ll try and out run you, though I might trip.” He laughed, feeling like he’d probably trip over air at an important moment like that. He stepped into the canteen with Samuel and looked around, find the little shop adorable, but having everything you might need.

"Well, I'm sure you'll get it this summer." Samuel said, not really seeing how someone couldn't in a place like this unless they held themselves back for some reason. He paid for his worms then glanced over to Blake then to the rack of fishing poles that he could choose from. "And of those should work, I doubt you'll need anything too crazy to catch something out here."

“I hope you’re right,” Blake thought, but knew they had several weeks here to spend before school started up. He walked up to the line of fishing rods, looking them over, though none of them looked familiar to him. He rarely paid attention when his dad was talking about fishing, he learned the basics enough to just enjoy the moment, he didn’t want it to become his personality. He grabbed a dark blue rod, a thing of bait for himself, and paid for both. “Aww, you mean Loch Ness isn’t in this lake?” He joked, acting sad and shocked, though there was a hint of humor to his facial expression.

Once they had everything Samuel headed out the door and towards the lake but almost stumbled at Blakes question, his gaze shooting over to him with a slight frown. "The Loch Ness monster is in Scotland in...Loch Ness...next best thing you're gonna get is a Bigfoot or the Dover Demon and neither of those are gonna be in the water, worst that's going to be in the water in a Pike and those bitches suck." Samuel said with a shrug, knowing the teeth on those fish could cause some serious damange.

Blake smirked, waiting for Samuel to tell him where the Loch Ness monster was. He knew where, he just liked to play stupid, see how far he could get with someone before they figured it out. “Oh.. Loch Ness doesn’t inhabit all ponds and lakes?” he teased, following after Samuel towards the water. He perked up at the mention of Bigfoot. “Bigfoot you say? Might have some hunting to do during my stay.” He joked, not really planning anything other than to play a joke on Bobby later.

Samuels eyes narrowed a little at Blake, there was no way he was being serious. "No..." He said slowly, "but there are lakes with monsters in them like it." He said, followed the trail that lead to the lake but instead of going out on the dock he took a left, following the winding trail along the side of the water. "Good luck finding one, it'll probably find you first and take you out with a rock or something." He shrugged, finding a rocky beach through some brush and walked out to it. He looked out over the water before setting down his tackle box and getting to work to be ready to cast out.

Blake waited, letting the silence fall between them as he said no slowly, keeping a stupid grin on his face. He laughed when Samuel mentioned other monsters though. “Nah, don’t worry. “I don’t think Loch Ness is actually real,” he couldn’t explain what Loch Ness was, but the fact they scoped the lake out and found nothing, which means people saw what they wanted to see, and nothing more. He watched as they passed the dock, wondering if the guy had a secret fishing spot, and was surprised he was taking someone he had just met. It gave Blake hope that maybe rooming with the guy wouldn’t be too bad after all. He stopped when they reached a rocky beach, moving to take a seat and setting up the rod, though it had been a while, so it took him a few seconds. “Do you believe bigfoot is real?” he asked, figuring it was just some dude walking around in a gorilla as a joke, he’d do it, maybe he would for Halloween.

Samuel bit his tongue when Blake said he didn't think the Loch Ness monster was real, he heard the arguments for and against it but had his own ideas. He took one of the worms from the container and baited his hook, casting out into the lake. "I don't see why he couldn't be," he replied, "there's still a lot of places undiscovered and hundred of animals found so why not? All these people can't be seeing the same thing and nothing being out there." He shrugged as he watched the water. "Besides, can't deny something you've heard."

Blake slowly nodded his head, completely agreeing that there was a chance that bigfoot was out there, but he felt like there was more of a chance for megalodon to be real with how undiscovered the ocean was. He narrowed his eyes, feeling slightly confused at his saying, “Do you mean you can’t deny something you haven’t seen?” though as he thought about it, it was basically the same thing, except, you could deny something you’ve heard, if it was wrong of course. “Question.” He stated more than asked as he turned back to the lake, digging into his bait box for a worm. “Do you want bigfoot to exist?”

"Naw, heard, because I've heard Bigfoot out around the ranch and on trail rides, never saw him but I heard him." Samuel replied, glancing from where his line went into the water and over to Blake. "And the horses were definitely spooked by something out there." He added, about to look back at the water when Blake spoke again. "Want him to exist?" He repeated then shrugged, "sure, but I don't think I want the world to know."

Blake only slowly nodded his head, knowing the noises could have been any kind of animal, and horses could have easily been spooked by it too. “Uh huh. Well, I’ll believe when I see it.” He liked the idea of bigfoot existing, or mermaids, or any mythical creature, but he knew the possibilities were very slim. “So, if you stumbled upon bigfoot, you’d keep it a secret?” not that anyone would believe him anyways.
