"Stay out here long enough and you might see it." Samuel said as he looked out at the lake, wondering if he was going to have any luck and catch anything today. "Yeah I'd keep it a secret, people get to crazy and would probably hunt them to extinction before we get to learn anything about them or whatever." He said with a shrug, thinking about all the different kinds of animals that went extinct because of human discovery.

Blake didn’t think a lot of people would hunt the bigfoot into extinction, but then again, the world was full of horrible people. He was ready for a change in the subject, though he wasn’t sure what subject the two of them could talk about. “You know who I’d want to meet? Chicks. Think any chance I could get lucky?” He chuckled, reeling in his empty line, finding the worm still attached at the end, and debated on giving up, though he casted it back in anyways.

Samuel couldn't stop himself from snorting at what Blake said, giving a small shake of his head. "I guess this is the place to try if you really want to, I'm sure if you talk to someone about the Loch Ness monster you'll have no problems finding a 'chick." He joked, feeling a bite on the end of his line and quickly reeling in but half way to shore he felt his line go slack, grumbling slightly when he fully reeled in and found his hook empty. Begrudgingly he put a new worm on it and casted out. "I'm probably the wrong person to talk to about girls."

Blake laughed, deciding to keep the talk about Loch Ness and Bigfoot with just Samuel or his brother. He watched out of the corner of his eyes as Samuel caught something, but it seemed like the fish got away somehow. He smirked as he reeled in yet another empty line before casting it back out. “Why are you the wrong person?” He asked, though wondered if Samuel would want to talk about things with someone he had just met. “Are you gay? It’s cool if you are.” He was smiling though, watching his line as he felt something tug at it.

Samuel looked over at Blake, almost physically sitting back from him. "Uh, not gay, I just don't see dating as a priority." He frowned a little before looking back at the lake. It was hard for him to explain, he wasn't good at making friends so that easily translated to not being good at dating but at the same time he found himself just not...interested. He focused on school and working on the ranch and the idea of letting someone into his messy life just made him want to avoid it even more.

“Don’t tell me your like, super into homework,” Blake teased, though hoped Samuel wasn’t the type that would rather write a nine-page essay over going to a party. “Besides fishing, what else do you do for fun?” he asked, figuring talking about girls was kind of useless at the moment.

"Well not super into it but I get it done," Samuel shrugged a little, "uh I help my Dad on the ranch and at the stable and I ride horses," he said, looking at the end of his fishing pole then down along the line. "I go to rodeos and compete sometimes but it's nothing serious. What about you?" He asked, figuring that was the right thing to ask.

“Phew, I was worried we’d be having homework parties instead of video games or something,” Blake chuckled, reeling in what felt like a good-sized fish, but when he pulled it out of the water, it was no bigger than his palm. “Wow… What a catch.” He laughed, wondering if this was a sad omen about his future dating life. “Well. I like movies, and video games, camping, and um, baking.” He stared at the fish on his hook as he talked about baking, wondering if Samuel would think he was weird. Plenty of guys had avoided his brother and him because of that fact.

"Homework party? That sounds like hell." Samuel frowned, did people really do that? It sounded...pathetic. He looked over at the fish at couldn't stop himself from chuckling, "wow, what a monster, good job." He said, pausing when he listed off baking. "Baking? That mean you're gonna make me cookies?" He joked.

“Trust me, they are, I got stuck in one because of a girl.” Blake shook his head, remembering the girl had asked him to come with her to a party, he hadn’t realized they just sat in the library and did homework together. “There was alcohol at least, and snacks, but I was bored out of my mind.” Mostly because he didn’t even have homework, he hadn’t brought it. “Depends,” He smirked, tossing the little fish back into the lake. “What’s your favorite cookie?” he asked, putting on another worm.

Samuel paused, looking at Blake as if he was pulling his chain. "You can't be serious...that is....that's sad." He snorted, trying to hold back some gruff laughter. "I don't think there's enough alcohol int he world to make something like that worth it," he said, frowning a little when there was a tug on the line and then another, making him sit up as he started to reel in. "Peanut butter chocolate chip." He said, getting a little excited that he could be reeling in a big fish, but when it got close to shore he pulled out his line, finding a weedy covered stick on the end instead of a fish. "Are you freaking kidding me?" He muttered, grabbing the stick and chucking it back into the water.

Blake laughed, “Oh I wish I was. The girl was hot though,” He sighed sadly, wondering how she and her homework parties were going, even though he was glad to never be invited again. At least he got to make out with her beforehand, and part of him wondered if he stuck it out what would have happened afterwards, but it was too late to find out. “Alright, I can make those,” he figured he could easily add peanut butter to his already amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe. He watched as Samuel pulled out his line, finding nothing but trash. “Woow, what a catch.” He laughed, at least glad he had caught an actual fish.

Samuel snorted again, "looks aren't everything." He said, but couldn't lie and say that he wasn't just a little curious about what this girl looked like. Maybe he could get some more info from Blake whenever he had those cookies. He shot him a glare thought at the mockery of his 'catch' and looked back where the water rippled from where he had thrown the stick. "I'm not leaving till I get something." He said as he rebaited his line and tossed it back out into the water.

“You’re right, it’s a big component though,” Blake had only known the girl for a few weeks, but he remembered her being funny, quick witted, though sometimes mean. Mostly to people she didn’t like. Blake reeled in his line, resulting in a big nothing, even his worm was gone. He wasn’t the best at fishing, but he knew he was doing better than he had expected, “Even if I promise to make peanut butter chocolate chip cookies later?” He figured the kitchen had the right ingredients, but he wasn’t sure if they were allowed to cook or bake anything.

Samuel shrugged, he figured Blake was right, looks were often the first thing people were hooked on but for him, even though his eye could be swayed by pretty eyes or a smile, it was about the personality and if someone was ugly on the inside it made them look ugly to him on the outside too. "You can make cookies now?" He asked, pausing for a moment. He could swallow his pride if it meant cookies.

Blake watched his bobber go up and down, but nothing felt like a bite just yet, his mind wandering back home, back to his family, wondering what his grandfather was up to at the bakery. He shrugged at Samuel’s question. “I don’t know, but the only thing stopping me really is a counselor saying I can’t.” he pointed out, slowly reeling in his line.

Samuel nodded slowly, looking back at the lake as a fish jumped out of the water, disappearing with a splash as if it were mocking him. "If you can 100% make cookies then I'll consider leaving." He finally faltered a little, telling himself he had plenty of time to try fishing later.

“Well, that involves asking someone,” Blake wasn’t about to do that, but he could just attempt to make cookies, and ask for forgiveness if they got caught. He wasn’t sure how much of stickler Samuel was for the rules, but figured if cookies were involved, he’d probably go. “We don’t have to go just yet.” He added, feeling something tug as his line and he started reeling it in.

"Or just doing it now and asking for forgiveness later." Samuel said with a shrug, eyes narrowing when Blake started to reel in his line, feeling a little surge of competitiveness rise up inside of him. He had to catch fish or at least something worth the time spent sitting out here. "We ain't goin' until I catch at least something alive." He grumbled a bit, as if his grumpy mood would change something.

Blake laughed, “Sounds like something my brother and I do all the time,” though his smile faltered slightly when he remembered the last time Bobby and him had tried baking with their grandfather, and their father found out. He swallowed the lump and reeled in his rod, not feeling like fishing anymore, but he set all his equipment to the side, waiting for Samuel to finally catch a fish. He chuckled, “I wish you all the luck, mostly because now I want cookies.” He teased.

Samuel chuckled a little, the feeling a little new to him, "I do that with my pops but when he figures it out I always end up with extra stall duty." He wrinkled his nose but the few times he had gone against his uncles rules he'd had some memorable adventures...and had suffered a broken limb or two but it wasn't anything a cast couldn't fix...but then it just meant extra chores after healing. "I've got to catch something." He muttered, looking out at the water again when he felt a tug on his line and started reel in, sitting up a bit straighter when his line jerked back and forth until finally he reeled in a decent sized bass. "Oh hell yeah." He grinned.

Blake wrinkled his nose at the thought of whatever stall duty meant, he hadn’t been around horses much, but he knew they could poop a lot. Granted, he’d take stall duty over having bruises to cover up, and not being able to bake. “Alright, you can’t let this one go!” he teased as he watched Samuel fight whatever was hooked until he pulled it out. “Niiiiice, think we can cook it?” he would totally fry it up with garlic, paprika, and some potatoes.

There was no way in hell that Samuel was going to let this fish go, the second he had it out of the water and the hook out of its mouth he was thinking about how he could cook it, but again his idea of cooking it was roasting it over a fire and calling it good. He secured the hook on his line before setting his fishing pole off to the side and picking the fish up by its mouth, looking at it. "Oh yeah, we could definitely cook it."

“Dude, we can do that here? Stoked.” Blake was excited, he hadn’t been too sure about the camp food, what with his mother’s cooking and his grandfather’s baking skills, he wasn’t a fan of eating food that was subpar. That was one of the issues he had coming to the boarding school, but he was ready to figure that out over staying home and getting beaten by his father. “Totally got a recipe I can use, if you don’t mind me cooking.” He wasn’t sure if Samuel was a cook or wanted to cook the fish he caught, he wouldn’t step on any toes, and he just wanted a friend.

"Well I've saw a fish guttin' station so I assume we can." Samuel shrugged, figuring that if they weren't supposed to do that then they shouldn't have the station set up by the docks in the first place. He was a bit surprised when Blake said he had a recipe for cooking the fish but he wasn't going to argue and tell him that couldn't cook the fish. "I don't care if you cook it, I was just gonna roast it over a fire but you having a recipe beats that option." He carefully got up and picked up his fishing pole, keeping the fish in his other hand.

“Really? Damn, this camp has everything.” Blake said, starting to think if they got a fish gutting station, what else does it have? He hoped to have fun, do the things he and his brother usually missed out on during the summer. Blake held his breath as he waited for Samuel to tell him it was his fish to cook, but was pleasantly surprised that he was okay with it. “Well, that does sound good, but I’d like to add some herbs, spices, toss on some potatoes with butter and garlic.” He could easily imagine the dish, feeling his stomach growl with hunger. “Yup, I’m hungry now.” He chuckled.

"Apparently, but there's probably something they're missing." Samuel shrugged, this was a summer camp after all and if it was anything like the school it was bound to be lacking somewhere. He raised an eyebrow as Blake listed off what he wanted to do to cook it and shrugged his shoulders. "Knock yourself out, I don't really know how to cook so do whatever." He said, chuckling a little when he heard Blake's stomach. "Hopefully one fish is enough for you."

Blake still held out hope, he wasn’t going to let this chance slip by. His dad could bring him back home, decided not to let them go through with the school year away from home. But he hoped his father was too busy with the shop to care. “Alright, well. If you gut the fish, I’ll bake those cookies so when you’re done, you can eat them.” He didn’t want to admit he didn’t know how to gut a fish properly. He could debone it easily, but usually the fish was already gutless.

"Sounds good enough to me." Samuel shrugged, maybe if Blake was as good in the kitchen as he seemed to say he was then he could consider being his friend...which felt weird in itself. Until now Samuel didn't have anyone he'd consider a friend except for Silas, but that didn't really count. He grabbed the rest of his things before heading back to where the main part of the camp was, the gutting station by the lake but behind the building that served as the mess hall of the place.

Blake gathered his pole and the rest of the bait he was sure would just escape before he fished again, and followed Silas towards what he assumed was the mess hall. He had still not looked at the map and learned the layout, he figured he had time, he hoped at least. “Sweet, place seems to be empty.” Which meant he could easily sneak in and start baking and setting up for the fish.
