Riell smiled a little, willing her face to calm down but the heat didn't seem to want to go away. She was quiet when Jeb said goodbye to his father, tucking her hands into the pockets of her jeans until he was looking to her again, "alright, I'll trust you but if they aren't good they're on you." She teased, not really caring who paid or anything, she just wanted to have a nice afternoon. She looked down at Jeb's dad before walking from the alley.

Jeb followed her out of the alley, wondering if his dad would pack up and move his so called mobile home and find another spot that he’d have to go searching for, but he hoped he sat and ate instead. “I guess I can meet you there.” Jeb suggested, since she knew where she was going.

Riell looked back at Jeb and nodded, "sure thing." She has thought about walking to the diner but then thought about walking back to her truck with a full stomach and threw out the idea almost immediately. She headed down to her truck and hoped in, starting it smoothly and driving to the diner where she parked a bit farther from other cars and hopped out. She pulled off her hat, taking out her hair tie and running hand through her hair as she walked towards the front of the diner, groaning a little from the release of tension pulling at her skull.

Jeb hopped into his beat-up old mustang and coaxed it into working before driving the short distance to the diner. In the time it took him to get there, he already smoked another cigarette and was pulling out another as he joined Riell, a few steps behind her, and lit the cigarette, knowing he’d have to finish it before they stepped inside.

"You keep walking behind me and someone is going to think you're a stalker." Riell said, looking back at Jeb over her shoulder with a slight smile, spotting his cigarette and slowed to a stop so he could take time to finish his smoke instead of rushing, even if being around it made her want one for herself.

Jeb shrugged, “People can think what they want, wouldn’t be the first time I was wrongly judged.” He smirked as he finished his cigarette. “Hopefully it’s Dave behind the stove today, he makes the best pancakes.” He moved to open the door for them, greeting Dave’s wife Dolores who then led them to a table for a seat.

Riell's eyes widened a little bit, now that was something she could relate to and nodded, "true that." She laughed a little bit and headed inside with him, giving him a smile when he opened he door and followed Dolores to their table and sat down, setting her hat down next to her and twisting her hair into a mess bun at the base of her neck and securing it with her hair tie. "So, regular pancakes or is there a certain kind that's the best?" She asked, seeing a few different choices on the menu.

Jeb too a seat across from Riell and briefly glanced at the menu, “Well, if you haven’t had their pancakes before, you have to start with the regular buttermilk ones to get a good idea of how amazing the other flavors are,” He explained, smiling towards Dolores who walked over to take their drink order. He asked for a black coffee before turning back to Riell. “Then again, I can’t keep you from ordering whatever you want.”

Riell nodded, "the first time I came here I had the biscuits and gravy and that's what I've been ordering ever since." She smiled, thinking of that early morning when she had rolled into town and this diner had been the only place open for her to grab a bite to eat. She looked up at Dolores and gave her a small smile, asking for hot chocolate before looking back to Jeb, "I think I'll mix things up and try the pancakes today."

“Those are good, but I generally eat those at three am after a rager.” Jeb chuckled, though it wasn’t the usual party everyone thought it was, it was just his D&D group meeting up. “The usual Dolores.” He smiled the woman who didn’t write anything down for either order, having done this long enough she instantly yelled to the kitchen as she walked to the next table. “Slap two sets of flipflops with a side of pig strips and the unborn, scrambled!” Jeb chuckled, finding the way Dolores told her husband what to cook always cracked him up.

Riell laughed a little, shaking her head, "for me my go to after a good night out was a five layer burrito from Taco Bell and some cinnamon twists," she could still remember those late nights where she would beg her brother to put in an order or sweet talk the bus driver to stop somewhere after a late concert or party. Her eyes widened a bit when Dolores shouted out their order, unable to stop herself from laughing again. "Well that's one way to shout an order."

Jeb scrunched up his face, “Taco Bell, never treats me well,” His high ass brain sometimes convinces him it would be fine this time, but in the end, he always ended up passed out on the toilet. After the last time, he swore the place off for good. “She’s a hoot, been living in this town since she was born.” He didn’t get to talk to her husband David often, but he had a feeling he was born and raised here too. “As far as I know, the diner has been in her family for a while.” He mentioned, sipping at his cup of coffee the second it was brought over.

Riell couldn't stop herself from laughing, "that's too bad, their burritos are excellent." She said, knowing that she survived probably too much on that drive through menu over the years of working. "Wow," she glanced over at Dolores, briefly wondering what it would be like to stay in one place for so long, so far the couple years she had carved out in this town had been the longest she'd been somewhere so...permanently. She reached out, holding her mug of hot chocolate in her hands, letting it warm her finger tips that always seemed to be cold. "Keeping a business like this in the family is impressive."

“Trust me, it’s a sad lost,” Jeb shrugged, feeling like their food had definitely declined in the last few years, though he wasn’t sure if that was because he grew up or because the recipe changed. “Yeah, maybe one of their daughters will take over the place.” He shrugged, never having met the sisters since they were a few years older, he knew one was an actress, and one was a baker, he barely got to know Natalie, who was only 2 years older than him.

Riell laughed a little as she nodded and took another sip from her hot chocolate. "Well if none of their daughters do would there be anyone else in the family who would be able to?" She wondered if a day would come where there wouldn't be a person to take on the diner and wondered what would happen to it if that was the case. With the diner being a staple in the town she doubted it would disappear entirely.

Jeb shrugged his shoulders, “They don’t have any grandkids yet, so I don’t think so no,” He wasn’t sure why he felt a little sad about it, it’s been in this town for as long as he could remember, but he could only hope if one of the daughters came back, they would take it over. “Can only hope someone steps up to the plate.” He drummed his fingers on the table, feeling the edge he’d been on being high was slowly coming to an end, and part of him wasn’t ready to be sober.

"I'm sure someone will." Riell reassured, glancing out the window for a moment as her thoughts drifted to the mantle that had been thrown onto her, to help continue the legacy and name of the family in Hollywood. She had done it for so long, but at a cost of so much until she finally threw it all back at the people who had hurt her and her friends. The sounds of Jeb's fingers brought her back to reality and she looked at him, tilting her head slightly, "you alright?"

Jeb nodded his head, though he was more of a pessimist at times, he felt like something good would happen to the two that owned this place. He was content to sit there and stare at his fingers like he usually did when he was busy letting his mind run through everything he still needed to do, he felt like the list was never ending, and one he was fine with postponing. “Hmmm? Oh, just thinking how hard it is to adult.” He chuckled, wondering who decided he was ready to be an adult.

Riell's lips curled up into a smile, "now that I can relate to." She laughed a little, thinking of her own list of to-do's once she got back home. There was watering the plants, putting the animals back in their barn and the chicken coop was probably long overdue for a quick cleaning then there was the matters of what was in the house that she had to take care of. Thinking of all of it made her just want to curl up and hide for a couple more hours until she absolutely had to go home. "I have so much to do when I get home, it's like the list never ends I swear."

“I take it that’s just part of growing up,” Jeb stated, feeling rather sadden by this fact. He watched as Dolores dropped their orders onto the table and sat up straighter, taking a deep breath and enjoying the way the pancakes smelled. “Guess I should have listened to Peter Pan when he tried to steal me as a boy.” He joked, though part of him wished he had been real. Then again, who would take care of his dad if he had gone off.

"Unfortunately." Riell replied in a mutter with a hint of bitterness. She'd never had the chance to have a normal childhood. There had been a time where she had wanted to try going back to high school and be a normal teen but the idea had been struck down before she could finish the entire sentence and she was left back at square one. When their food arrived her eyes widened a little, "now those smell amazing," she said, reaching over and taking the syrup, drenching most of her food with it before setting it aside. "It's not fair, little boys got Peter Pan and little girls got stuck behind." She joked.

Jeb grimaced at the idea that the rest of his life was just list and list of things, and it would never end until he finally kicked the bucket. “At least my job is fairly easy.” The place pays for itself really, he made bank the only dispensary in town. He started digging into the eggs and hashbrowns, saving the pancakes for last, though shoved the butter between layers to melt. “Well, look at it this way. Girls are smart than boys according to that logic.” He had learned that supposedly it wasn’t that great to live with Peter Pan after all, that he wasn’t the fun never grow up person you thought he was in the Disney version. He thanked his dad for ruining that dream when he was nine by reading the real story to him.

"Oh? What do you do for work?" Riell asked curiously after taking a bite of her pancake, almost shoving another piece into her mouth immediately from how good it was. She looked at him curiously as he talked about girls being smart, nodding slowly, "I guess so, but I would give anything to disappear to a private island for a little bit to forget about my responsibilities."

“Oh um, I run the dispensary,” Jeb rubbed the back of his neck nervously. People didn’t like what he did for the most part. They acted like he was supplying the kids with drugs, but he actually carded and kicked people out who weren’t supposed to be in his store. Even though it used to be him doing that before. “Well, it’s alright. Peter Pan was a dick anyways, so he’d probably make you clean up after him.” He chuckled, seeing how that actually was the purpose of bringing Wendy over.

"Ohhhhh," a look of understanding crossed Riell's face, of course she knew of the place, she drove past it on her way and out of town and each time the name made her laugh a little, "I'm sure you get told this a lot but the name for it is great." She smiled a bit, she had been tempted to go in but rarely could justify stopping by or starting up the habit again after she'd worked so long to kick it and all her other habits. His talk about Peter Pan made her snort, shaking her head, "you have a point there I guess." Though spending all her time cleaning and being on an island would probably still be better than what she'd had to do at a young age.

“It’s a long name, but it leaves an impression.” Jeb chuckled, stuffing a piece of bacon into his mouth as he thought about all the other names he had for the dispensary, but figured he could build up more in other towns, if he ever left of course. “In the book, he kills the Lost Boys… When they start to grow up.” He grew a little somber at that notion.

"And it's still memorable." Riell added, finally digging into her hashbrowns, having saved them for last since that was her favorite part of breakfast. She took a couple bites but paused at what he said next, "I'm sorry but he does what now?" She asked, her only source of fairy tales being the Disney movies and occasional one offs done but other studios, the movie Ever After being her favorite...along with Rogers and Hammersteins Cinderella with Brandy.

Jeb pushed the empty plate away that had his eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns over to the edge before digging into his pancakes. He didn’t add syrup right away, but did pool a little bit onto his plate to dip in. He chuckled when she asked him to basically repeat what he said. “When I was a little kid, I loved Peter Pan. Favorite movie at the time.” He stuffed a bite into his mouth and waited till he swallowed it before continuing. “My dad hated that the movie made me wish to go, not want to do chores at all, or even go to school. So, he read me the book.” He couldn’t believe how dark this book was, it was not what he’d been expecting when he was eight. “And Peter Pan kills the lost boys when they start to grow up.”

Riell's mouth almost droppd open from what he was saying, how the hell did someone from Disney read a story like that and turn it into the happy classic that almost everyone knew? "That is...not anything I would expect to be written, ever...don't tell me there's more fairy tales like that." She grimaced.

Jeb eyed her from the side as he finished off the first bite. “Do you really not know?” He asked, feeling like when you actually become an adult, was when you learned that all those fairytales you believed, never ended, happily ever after. He waved Dolores over as he pulled out his wallet, ready to hand her enough cash to pay the tab.
