Riell stared back at him, shaking her head, "no, I got to live in Disney movie bliss throughout my childhood." It was the real life monsters she had to deal with. She glanced down as he pulled out his wallet, shaking her head, "now now, I asked you out on this lunch date, remember?" She teased, taking her card out of her purse and handing it to Dolores.

Jeb raised an eyebrow at her when she said she had lived with the Disney versions. He was jealous, his dad had practically ruined that for him, which was why he started smoking to gain some of that imagination he lost back. He narrowed his eyes at Riell, “Dolores will know what to do.” He turned to Dolores and pouted, winning him an eye roll, but she took his money anyways.

Riell looked back at him then at Dolores, her mouth falling open as the waitress took his money and walked away. Riell turned to Jeb, narrowing her eyes slightly, "wow, I thought I was the one who was supposed to pay."

Jeb chuckled, “Eh, this is my place, you can pay when you bring someone.” He grabbed his coffee cup and started sipping on it again, feeling completely full and ready for a smoke and a nap. His order was delayed as it was, he didn’t have to open the shop just yet. He could easily put it till later, most buyers were working, shockingly enough. “So, since you know what I do, what is it that you do?”

Riell rolled her eyes but smiled, she highly doubted she would bring anyone here. She didn't have friends outside of a few of the shop owners she'd had small conversations with and even then none of those relationships were near the level of going out for lunch, "uh huh." She took another bite from her hashbrowns but his question made the delicious taste turn to ash in her mouth. Even with these years away the first answer that came to her were those perfectly tailored answers for interviews. She took a moment before swallowing and responding, "I have a little farm up on the mountain, I make goods out of what my animals produce and sell them online or drop them off at the farmers market and you know what I do with the extras."

“Eh, if I run into you here at like, three in the morning, I’ll let you pay,” Jeb knew it was mostly because he’d be too high to really function that well, and usually Dolores would call him a cab and tell him to straighten up or he’ll end up like his dad. But his dad was depressed, that was all. For the most part, he didn’t feel depressed. He nodded his head with half interest as his mind thought of pot farm at the word farm and his desire for a joint grew again. “Well, that’s generous of you, donating. Sorry if my dad was every rude to you.”

Riell raised an eyebrow, "if we run into each other here at three in the morning we'd probably both need a ride home." She joked, thinking back to a few long nights that ended with heads in toilets and naps on cold tile floors. She could practically see Jeb's eyes glaze over as she spoke and glanced away, twisting the discarded paper from her straw between her fingers, "it's not a problem and your dads nothing, I've dealt with way worse before." She smiled slightly.

“And that’s a problem because?” Jeb asked as he put his wallet away as Dolores brought the change back and grabbed the empty plates. Jab left the money she had brought back onto the table, not needing it, and wanting to keep this place going the bast way he could. “He’s been a lot worse that’s for sure.” His thoughts going back again to when his dad had given him a black eye.

Riell rolled her eyes when he asked what the problem was, not going to give the low down on her history with addiction and how the only way she'd end up in that situation would be if she was drunk or high, which she didn't plan on doing. She grimaced a little at his talk of his dad, "I'm sorry to hear that...being close to someone who has a problem like that can be really hard."

Jeb shrugged his shoulders, if she wasn’t here that early, it was no shirt off his back about it. “Well, it’s an offer, just know it’s not every night, but most,” he said as he finished off his coffee, wondering if he was going to head back to work and actually get stuff done or take a nap. He shrugged again when she said it was hard to deal with, which it was, but wishing it wasn’t like that, wasn’t going to make the situation better. “Hoping he comes around.” But he wasn’t sure his dad would come around before he dies.

"Good to know, I'll keep it in mind if I find myself lonely in the middle of the night and decide to look for you-wait, no," Riell frowned, her face turning a little red when she realized how that sounded, "that didn't sound right." She rubbed her forehead, trying to ignore the embarrassment, citing her lack of socialization for the strange words. "He might some day, it takes some time unfortunately."

Jeb raised an eyebrow when she started spouting off about being alone and needing company, “I think you should probably find someone better suited for that relationship,” He chuckled, waving her off because he understood what she meant by it. “But don’t worry about it, I totally understand what you meant.” He honestly didn’t think he’d see her again, unless she was at the shelter the same time his dad was around. He shrugged, looking down at the table, not wanting to think about his homeless dad. "Well see I guess."

Riell just shook her head, a relationship was the last thing she needed. She could already imagine how complicated it would make things but the shadow of loneliness crept up the back of her neck, curling around and settling on her shoulders like a too heavy cat wanting to smother her the second it got the chance. She gnawed at her lower lip a little at the talk of his dad, "unfortunately yeah, people only get help when they decide they want it. Even if you make someone go to treatment they need to want it for it to actually make a difference." She said, for her it had been hitting rock bottom and being put in a facility, it had helped her but only for so long until she relapsed until finally she hit the point where she had wanted to change for good and even then she sometimes felt the urge to go back to her old ways.

Jeb could only nod along with her, having been told this by several different doctors, facilities he tried to get his dad to go to, people who ran the homeless shelters said the same thing when he tried to house him there. His dad didn’t want help right now, but he was afraid if he let the grief over his wife’s passing to continue, he wasn’t going to last long. “Well, I’m doing all I can right now.” He was over this conversation, even though he was pretty sure he brought it up. He cleared his throat as he stared down at his empty coffee cup, his legs fidgeting with anxiety of again, not having a hit since the last time.

Riell tried not to grimace at his tone, it was obvious he was wanting to end this conversation and she wasn't going to push on it but she couldn't help herself from saying something. "And at least you're doing that." She said softly, thinking of the people she had met who'd had no one, some were able to pull themselves out of it while others continued to spiral until it was too late. She could almost feel his leg vibrating from under the table and for a moment she wondered if he had his own demons he was battling with but it wasn't her place to say anything. "You ready to get out of here?"

Jeb eyed her from the side when she asked if he was ready to get out of there, acting as if he didn’t know he was showing all the signs of someone itching to leave, though it was actually because he was needing his own fix. “Yeah, if you are. Gotta open up these tables for Dolores.” He teased, though there wasn’t anyone waiting to get a table.

"Exactly and I we cant hog all the pancakes." She smirked, reaching over and grabbing her hat, pulling it onto her head then slid out from the booth. "I should probably get home anyway and make sure none of the goats pulled a Houdini." She rolled her eyes, knowing her dogs would keep them around the property but she had already lost one berry bush to the heathens and didn't want to lose another.

“Do you use your goats to mow your grass?” Jeb asked jokingly, laughing at how stupid that seemed to him, but he’d seen videos on his late night youtube deep dives. “Or are they like, the fainting goats?” another video he’d seen on youtube, having him laughing his ass off while high out of his mind.

Riell chuckled, "I do have them go out to eat all the under brush, which can be pretty helpful but they're also kind of assholes and eat up my berry bushes or try to get to my fruit trees if the dogs don't keep them at bay," she told him, liking the way that they were able to get into small places and get rid of the weeds and annoying plants. "I do have a couple fainting goats though, they're good comedic relief," she added, "I kind of have a thing for taking in any animal that needs a home so I do have more goats than I initially meant to."

Jeb chuckled, wondering if he could borrow some goats to clean up his yard, though with how high the weeds were growing, he could probably feed a whole herd of goats for years. “Well, that’s nice of you, can I guess you have a lot of animals?” He guessed she had chickens, from what he peaked into the carton of food she’d left for his dad.

"I do have a few," Riell admitted, "I have a three guard dogs, the herd of goats, chickens, a couple horses, pigs, bees, and a cow." She listed off the animals, "oh and a really grumpy llama." She grimaced slightly, that creature definitely lived up to its stereo types and half the time she left him to his own devices so she wouldn't get spat on. "The shelter is trying to get me to take a couple barn cats but I'm not sure about that."

“Bees?” Jeb stopped walking towards his car, his hand in his pocket grabbing for the keys. “You keep bees?” He asked, wondering what prompted people to take care of something that could easily kill him, since he was severely allergic. “Sounds like without the bees, you could have a running petting zoo.” He figured that was a business venture that sounded fun but was reminded how he thought the weed shop would be fun, and now it was just more chores to deal with. “Why not? Add more to your list of creatures.” He chuckled, wondering if the shelter had found the cats or someone had brought them in as their own pets looking for new homes.

Riell looked back at Jeb, coming to a stop and smiled a little, "yeah, there's a flower meadow near by so I figured it would be easy, but I have to keep the hives away from the main part of the farm." She explained, the bees were probably her least favorite part of he homestead but she knew they held an important role in the ecosystem and if she had room for them she didn't see a reason why to not have them, plus there was hardly a fault with honey. She smiled a little when he brought up a petting zoo, she could already see the hassle that would come with it and the way it could harm her identity, "and have kids running around like even wilder animals? I think I'll pass," she joked, "as for the cats...I'll think about it."

“Sorry, gonna have to stay away, deathly allergic.” Jeb remembered how he blew up like a balloon and his mom had rushed him to the hospital with his dad rushing in from work. The memory was a little sad now, realizing his mom wasn’t around to rush to the hospital should it ever happen again. He forced the feeling away quickly, and it wasn’t hard to plaster a grimace on his face when he realized little kids would be running around, “Never mind, terrible idea. I’m too sober for good ones apparently.” He chuckled, the itch quickly returning at the thought of him not being high at the moment. “I mean, I assume you have a barn right?” He asked, feeling like that was part of why they brought it up to her.

"Oof," Riell grimaced slightly, besides peanuts she had thought an allergy to bees was probably the worst one to have since half the time when you got stung you didn't know you were at risk until it was too late. "That's kind of scary since bees are everywhere except in fall and winter." She said, looking over at him, frowning a little when he mentioned being sober, furthering her thoughts from before. "It's okay, I like my privacy anyway and opening a petting zoo just sounds like the perfect thing to destroy it," she frowned a little, "I do have a barn, well I have two small ones right now." She said, starting to think about how many cats she would need if she were to agree to adopting some.

“Tell me about it,” Jeb was constantly on the lookout during the summer, a reason he wore thicker jackets and long sleeve in hops of preventing bees from stinging through. Didn’t always work, had a bee sting him through a t-shirt once, but it still made him feel better trying something. He nodded in agreement when she mentioned liking her privacy and knew he wouldn’t want a petting zoo at his own house. “Well, at least they’d have a good home.” He said, though his mind thought about adopting the cats himself if she didn’t take them.

"Do you at least keep on epi pen on you?" She asked, common sense would tell her yes but not everyone had it or were entirely that responsible. Her thoughts drifted back to the cats and she smiled a little, "maybe in a couple days I'll check out the shelter to see if they might be a good fit, I have too much to do today." She admitted, sometimes feeling like she was busier now than before with things she had to do on the daily.

“Yes,” Jeb said, patting his jacket where he usually kept his epi pen in the inside pocket, but felt nothing. “Ah… Must have left it.” He suddenly remembered it was on his coffee table, having played with it last night when he’d gotten high, and was tossing it in the air. “Well, since you have a busy day, I’ll leave you too it.” He saluted her as they reached his car and her truck.

“I’m going straight home. I know it’s there.” Though Jeb wasn’t sure if it was in the kitchen, on the coffee table, or rolled under his couch. He brushed it off, he hadn’t been bothered by bees in a while, he would just have to avoid wherever her place was. He gave her a smile when she said she didn’t know his name, “Well, people call me Jeb.”
