Reign wasn’t looking forward to the conversation she was about to have. She had called her dad on the way to the Dance Hall and made a deal with him that she’d work and try a couple of classes at the college in town. He wasn’t upset, but was disappointed she’d given up so easily, but she’d given it a good year at least. Now she pulled into the parking lot of the empty Dancy Hall with only two cars, both she recognized easily. “Show time.” She sighed as she parked her truck and headed inside, deciding to just rip the bandaid off of telling her mom instead of waiting and making it worse.

Sunny hummed along with the music that was playing softly through the speakers as she dried a few glasses with a bar rag. She loved it when the Dance Hall was opening and she could serve people and watch them have fun but this was truly her favorite time of day. The Hall was dimly lit and quiet, giving her time to herself though it did offer up a lot of moments where her thoughts swirled like currents and she at times second guessed herself...and tingled with regret, but not today. Even with the uncomfortable silence between her and Stormy she was still at piece, but her gaze did flicker down to the end of the bar where Stormy sat, glaring down at an opened notebook that she refused to let anyone see. Since the divorce Sunny saw the way Stormy pulled back from everyone but no matter how much she tried to talk to her she couldn't get a good conversation going between them and she struggled to see her once happy little girl now completely closed off and brooding but then again...how else was a kid supposed to respond to their parents divorce? Sunny held back a sigh, she hated what happened, hated how it impacted the girls, even hated herself for causing it but the misery...it had all gotten so stifling. She was about to attempt another conversation when the door swung open and she saw none other than Reign walk in, making her mouth drop open. She hadn't been expecting this at all and was hit with confusion then anger but both were eclipsed with joy from seeing her daughter. "Reigny baby!" She squealed, running out from behind the bar and over to Reign, pulling her into a tight hug. Stormy almost fell off her bar stool from her moms screech, swinging around to see her older sister standing in the door way, high lighted in the sun as if she was some kind of angel. Oh great, more sunshine. She mentally grumbled, swinging herself back around and continuing with her notebook as if nothing was happening. Sunny:

Reign stepped through the door of the dance hall and made it three steps before her mom was squealing and running at her. She just had enough time to toss her purse to the side and brace for impact before she was basically tackled by her mom. “Hi mom.” She smiled, hugging her back tightly, though her eyes drifted over to Stormy, concern flashing over her face.

Sunny gave Reign a tight squeeze before letting go and smiling, "hi sweetie, what are you doing here? I didn't think that you had a break from school right now." She said, then again she didn't have much of a grasp on the college schedule. "How long are you staying? Have you eaten yet?" She asked as she looked Reign over.
Stormy rolled her eyes as she heard her mom gush over Reign, of course she was. She kept her back to the two of them as she wrote in her notebook.

Reign gave her mom a fake smile, feeling all the confidence she had with Sam melt away. She missed him suddenly, and wished he was here. “Yeah, um. I need to talk to you about that,” She eyed Stormy from the side with a frown before moving to sit at the bar next to her. She waited till her mom was behind, making this feel more like a business deal. “I dropped out, College isn’t for me.” She admitted, feeling her cheeks flush, a small doubt filled her mind that she wasn’t smart enough for college.

The second Reign and their Mom came back over to the bar Stormy closed her notebook, not wanting any prying eyes on what she was working on. Her face remained impassive but her eyebrows rose when Reign admitted to dropping out of college and tried not to snort but she was a bit curious as to what really got her cousin to leave college, Reign had always been the golden child.
Call it her mom senses but the second Sunny saw Reigns smile alarm bells went off in her head but she stayed quiet as they got to the bar but instead of picking up a glass and working while they talked she stayed still, eyes narrowing slightly. "You...dropped out of college," she said slowly, feeling her heart sink, "why Reign? You haven't been gone that long."

Reign sighed, wishing she didn’t have to go through this conversation twice, this was the annoying part of them being divorced. “Well, I tried it! I really did. It’s just, not for me.” She didn’t want to admit she was just lucky in high school, she barely studied, often forgot assignments, and skipped a lot of P.E. How she graduated with mostly low A’s and high B’s, she’d never know, but her luck ran out at college. “I honestly want to… Take over the Orchard and Stables.” She admitted, feeling her heartbeat rapidly as she waited for her mom to ask about the dance hall. She wanted that too, but she wasn’t sure she could rub both alone. She eyed Stormy from the side and gave her a smile, “Moved into the dorms yet?” She asked, wanting to ask about her notebook, wanting to ask why she was being so moody.

Sunny didn't know what to say as she stared at Reign after her admission. College was supposed to be her chance to find a way to get out of here but instead she threw it all away to come back and continue one of the family business. She sucked in a breath, pushing some loose hair out of her face. "Alright...okay," she said slowly, "I can't take you back there kicking and screaming and if continuing your fathers business is what you want then I can't stop you." Even though part of her wished that she could, but how much of this was her wanting to push her daughter to get out of this time to make a name for herself and how much of this was her wanting her daughter to do what she never could? Sunny had dreamed of leaving this town behind, granted it was for something more lucrative, but it had been her dream for years until it all came crashing down and life took her a different direction.
Stormy listened in silence but her gaze flickered between Sunny and Stormy, noting the disappointment that flashed in her mothers eyes and the way Reign wanted to jump subjects. "Not yet, soon." She replied, figuring she had already seen Sam and he had told her when he was moving so what was the point of asking her?

Reign sighed when her mother basically echoed dad in the fact they seemed disappointed but won’t be forcing her to go back. “I did promise dad I’d take a few business classes,” She rolled her eyes, finding it boring but she could see what he meant by it. He had his own business degree, earned at the same college in town. “But I was also wondering if I could, work here sometimes?” She loved the orchard and stable, but she earned a lot of money from this place. She could easily save a lot of money to rent a place of her own, knowing that was what she wanted. She turned to Stormy and eyed her notebook before looking down at her hand on the counter. “If you need help moving in, I got my truck.” She shrugged as if it was no big deal.

Sunny nodded slowly, trying not to stiffen at the mention of Thomas. Of course she had told him first, that's how it always seemed to be. Her heart stuttered for a second, wishing she was closer to her daughters but had a feeling that they blamed her exclusively for the divorce and she wasn't willing to hash it all out. She turned back to her glasses, starting on wiping one clean with her bar towel but paused at Reigns question and smiled a little. "Of course you can honey." She told her, voice warm at the idea of working with her daughter despite the rift she felt between them.
Stormy caught her lower lip between her teeth, there was their mom, always putting on some kind of facade until she lost her cool. Why Sunny couldn't be more forth coming she didn't know but then again, she wasn't that open herself, but it left room for her to observe. "Thanks." She shot over to her sister, not really caring about how she moved, all she knew was that she was tired of the back and forth and living in boxes, most of her stuff still packed up in her moms trailer.

Reign sighed with a little relief when her mom said she could work here. She’d be able to keep an eye on her mom, maybe convince her to take the night off and go see dad or ask him to come here and have them talk. She’d wait for the chance, “Thanks mom, I want to save up enough to get my own place.” She hoped she sounded like she was trying to be responsible, and that was it. Reign frowned when Stormy didn’t exactly say yes to her help, but she also didn’t say no. “Just let me know when to drive by.” She forced a smile on her face before turning back to Sunny. “Do you need help tonight?” She needed to unpack, but she also didn’t want to at the same time.

Sunny raised an eyebrow, at least Reign still held some sort of ambition. "That's a good idea honey, but don't stress out too much about that...you could always stay with me too...there is a third room." She said but was already bracing for her to say no because who wanted to stay in a single wide? She hadn't, the place still held an air of misery for her bit it was a roof over her head as she invested what money she had into the Dance Hall.
Stormy grimaced a little hearing her moms offer to Reign, she didn't necessarily want to live in the single wide either but her parents had split custody and it wasn't like she had the free choice like Reign to figure out who she would or wouldn't stay with. "Kay." was all she said to her sister before turning back to her notebook, scratching at it with her pen as she wished she had some friend or someone she could run off to hang out with instead of being here.
Sunny smiled softly when Reign asked if she needed help, "I could always use help Reign, that would be great."

“I wouldn’t mind having a place to crash if I need it, but I kind of want to try on my own too,” Reign sat up a little straighter, knowing if she did have a place of her own, she could throw parties, stay up late, eat ice cream for dinner if she wanted to. She knew she’d need to be an adult though, and handle everything without help, but she wouldn’t know unless she tried. She frowned when Stormy gave her just a one word answer, making it difficult to talk, like Sam had said. “Well mom, I like working here, so just ask me when.” She said, eyeing Stormy from the side once more.

Sunny nodded, she could understand that. "Well, alright." She agreed, knowing that having your independence was an extremely freeing experience that was hard to let go of some times. "We can come up with a schedule after tonight," Sunny added, not wanting to get too serious yet, she wanted to enjoy her time with her girls now that she had the two of them together. She glanced over at Stormy with a bit of worry before looking at Reign. "I'm going to have the outside area opened up, if you want to get it ready, Stormy could you please help your sister?"
Stormy sighed, taking her notebook and shoving it into her backpack. "Sure mom." She got up from her seat and headed towards the outdoor area, grabbing cleaning supplies as she went.
Sunny bit her lip as she looked after Stormy, shaking her head slightly, "I'm worried about her..."

Reign nodded her head and slid from her chair, falling into step with Stormy. She let the silence between them fill the air, but as soon as she knew they were out of earshot, she wrapped her arm around Stormy’s shoulder, “What’s up. Tell me what you’re thinking.” They used to be close, but she’d grown up, went to Mountain Ridge, hung out with Sam and her other friends. She felt bad suddenly for not being a good sister, and told herself she’d changed that now that she was back for good.

Sunny looked after the girls, feeling the lump swell in her throat as tears pricked her eyes. "I fucked everything up." She whispered softly to herself, bowing her head as she went back to work.
The second Reign's arm was around her Stormy cringed, ducking away from her touch. "What does it matter?" She muttered and set down her supplies and worked on cleaning a table, her lips turned into a frown. Since when did Reign care any way? The two hadn't been close since she had gone off to mountain ridge and built her own life. Which made sense but at the same time...left behind, you're always left behind. Last choice. Her thoughts whispered as she worked.

Reign sighed, knowing she probably just pushed Stormy further away, but she was willing to keep trying. “It does matter, because we can fix it Stormy,” She wanted her sister to see the vision, help her get their parents back together. “I know I haven’t been the best sister, but I want to be a family again, and that includes us.” She wasn’t sure what was going through Stormy’s mind, but she wished she did.

Stormy snorted, shaking her head. "You seriously think they can be fixed?" She replied with a frown, "you're more out of touch than I thought Reign." She muttered, scrubbing at a somewhat more stubborn spot on the table in front of her instead of looking at her sister but wondered how she could be so hopeful about something so dismal. Stormy doubted their parents would ever get back together and if they did, well, it would be some kind of miracle.

Reign shrugged but felt her confidence about the situation falter. “I’m sorry, kind of hard to stay completely in touch while out of town.” She rolled her eyes, wondering if Stormy was going to just fucking tell her or be this stupid mysterious emo child. “I’m back now, tell me so I can at least try.” She wasn’t going to go down without a fight because it had to work. Even if there was no one for her, if Sam didn’t find anyone, they’d have each other.

Stormy's jaw clenched, "it wasn't just when you left town," she told her, "you were always off with your friends, you didn't see Mom and Dad always fighting or heard them yelling." She pointed, stopping and leveling Reign with an emotionless stare, "Dad slept on the couch all the time and was out in the orchard, Mom was always here and I was just in that stupid house and when they were together it was so god damn tense. It was fucking miserable Reign."

Reign felt her face drop, “Why didn’t anyone tell me?” She asked, being told to have fun at Mountain Ridge, to visit home when she wanted, mostly on the weekends, and their dad hadn’t been on the couch during those times. Was everyone just hiding things from her? She felt suddenly worried that Sam was hiding something from her, even if she knew he wasn’t. “You could have reached out, I could have reached out.” She admitted, knowing she was just at fault.

"How could they?" Stormy shook her head, "you were always so happy and it was like they played some part of a movie when you came home." Stormy still didn't understand how her parents did it but then again they had no idea that she was a witness to every fight and argument. "Reached out?" She repeated, shaking her head, "you had your own life Reign and I didn't feel like talking. Still don't." She muttered the last bit. "As soon as you moved away Mom left the house and Dad just worked more while Mom acts like nothing freaking happened."

“Just because I was happy didn’t mean I don’t deserve to know,” Reign felt her chest burning with embarrassment, wondering what else everyone had hidden from her, just because she was happy. As Stormy basically spilled everything, she found she had enough, “Fine, everyone can just fuck off. Don’t talk to me, don’t tell me anything, because I just have my own life. So why don’t I go live it,” She spat, turning her back on Stormy and heading back into the dance hall. “Call me when you actually want to talk, which will be I guess, fucking never.” She shook her head, not wanting to feel like she was to blame for their parents splitting. She spotted her mom at the bar, cleaning the glasses and getting ready for the night, “Why didn’t you and dad tell me.” She slapped her hand on the counter, anger radiating off her like steam.

Stormy glared after Reign as her jaw clenched. "You always did good with that! Living in your own little sunshine world!" She snapped after her sister, not caring if she heard her or not. "Fuck this." She muttered, "and fuck you." Her voice turned into an angry whisper, "thinking you can fix it all, whose the baby sister now." She grumbled, snatching her backpack and walking away from the dance hall. She didn't want to deal with this, didn't have to live in whatever fantasy her sister was thinking of, not wanting to play any sort of stupid part in something what wasn't even possible. She didn't look back as she continued walking, figuring she could just go back to her moms trailer.
Sunny almost jumped, looking at Reign in surprise. "Reign, what are you talking about?" She asked, setting down her glass and rag.

“You and dad didn’t tell me how bad things were, while I was having fun in high school,” Reign didn’t care if she was screaming at her mother, she hated that Stormy acted like she had been living in a fantasy world, but since Stormy didn’t want to talk, neither would she. “Why the fuck did you think that was a good idea??” She threw her hands up in the air in defeat, wondering how different things might have been if her parents had clued her in. “Now Stormy thinks I was just off having a grand old time.” She might have been oblivious, but if her parents had been hiding it, they were partially at fault.

For a moment Sunny just stared at Reign, seeing a fire that used to flicker in her eyes before reality slapped her in the face along with the whispers of her being a failure. "Do not," she said lowly, "speak to me that way Reign, I'm still your mother and I won't engage in this conversation if you're swearing at me," even though she tried to contain herself, her voice wobbled just the slightest bit. "Stormy is going through a lot right now Reign and I'm sorry she's taking it out on you but you coming in here and screaming at me isn't going to make anything better. You can be mad but you don't get to scream at me. I know this is my fault."

Reign refrained from rolling her eyes, she wasn’t a child anymore, their relationship had changed when she turned eighteen and left the house, but she knew better than to bite back. “I’m more upset that you didn’t tell me, but thanks for that lousy apology.” She didn’t care that her mom took responsibility, she should, and her dad would soon too. “Why didn’t you and dad tell me there were problems.” She knew she wouldn’t be able to fix them, but she didn’t like the feeling of being left in the dark.

Sunnys eyes narrowed a bit as she shook her head, ignoring Reigns jab. "We both agreed not to tell you because you're a child," she told her, "and you didn't need to be involved in our issues and think that us not working out was somehow your or your sisters fault. I love your daddy, I always will but..." Sunny trailed off, shaking her head, "there just wasn't anything between us anymore."

Reign heard the word child and saw red. “Was, mom. I was a child. I’m an adult now and you still hid it from me,” She shook her head, feeling suddenly way too warm and needed to get out of the dance hall. “Thank you, mom, for keeping me out of it. However, you involved Stormy,” She knew she wouldn’t have blamed herself or her sister, but she’d want to know, talk them out of the divorce. “I disagree, you two keeping this a secret, means you’re meant for each other.” She grabbed her purse and headed for the front door, needing fresh air, suddenly needing a cigarette. She’d quit them when Sam asked her to stop so she wouldn’t end up with cancer, but her anxiety had her needing to break her three year sobriety from them.

"You will always be my child," Sunny almost growled, her hands shaking slightly at the way Reign was acting but froze when she mentioned Stormy. "Stormy? We never involved Stormy!" She yelled after Reign, what the hell did any of that mean? She hurried out from behind the door and into the outdoor area but her youngest was nowhere to be seen and her heart sank. "My babies..." Her hands were still shaking as she reaching into her pocket as if her mind was on auto pilot as she took out her phone and dialed. "Please answer Thomas..." she whispered softly.
