"Uh, don't have to prove shit or don't have shit to prove what you're claiming?" He called back to her with a laugh, wondering just how much he could push her in his game but even as he wondered this he found himself starting to grow bored. He turned to look out towards the lake, wondering if his brother was hiking the trail back up to yell at him for taking forever. He more than likely was, Jake was like a second mother that he hadn't asked for.

“Oh my God I hate you so much,” Shannon grumbled, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. “Why did it have to be me.” She mumbled before standing up and brushing the imaginary dirt from her shorts. “If I fucking jump off the cliff, will you leave me alone?” She wasn’t a fan of bargaining, but she didn’t know what else to do to get him to stop bothering her.

Reed snickered but immediately perked up when she asked about jumping off the cliff. He couldn't stop his grin, "I guess I can agree to that." He told her, turning and carefully climbing back down the wall. When he was a few feet above the ground he debated on hopping down but then remembered that lightning sharp pain from earlier and instead used his brain for once and didn't let go of the wall until both feet were firmly planted on the ground and he turned to Shannon. "Let's go then."

Shannon regretted the moment he agreed to it, wishing she hadn’t given in so easily, but it was just jumping off a cliff. She could easily push him in and walk away too, though she had a feeling if she tried, he’d drag her in with him. She ignored him as he worked his way down the crumbling wall, putting her hair up into a ponytail. “Whatever.” She grumbled as she started walking towards the direction of the cliff, leaving her things here was a bit safer, and she was still planning to come back to read.

Reed just grinned, in his mind he'd won and if he won't this battle it encourages him to try for more. Maybe it was the thrill of the chase propelling him or he just likes being annoying that made him do this but there was something about this girl that was pulling him in. "Sweet." He brushed the dirt off his hands and headed towards the cliffs, looking back at Shannon. "I'm Reed by the way."

Shannon was sure this was only going to make it worse, but she felt like an animal cornered. She couldn’t strike out because of the repercussions that would follow should he decide to get her in trouble, but she wasn’t going to risk it. She headed for the cliffs, only giving him a side glance when he introduced himself. “Good for you.” She said, not planning to give him her name ever. She was surprised that none of his friends were still around jumping, but that made her feel better as she slipped off her shoes and then her shorts. “Lets just get this over with.” She grumbled, tossing them into a pile.

Reed laughed again, "I should've expected that by now," he said as he looked back at her, "so I'm gonna guess that you aren't going to tell me your name so until I figure that out I guess I'll just have to make up a name for you." He looked at her as if he were seriously considering what kind of name would fit, eyes narrowing a little before he snapped his fingers, "Daisy. I'll call you Daisy." This was probably going to make her hate him more or it was going to make her made enough to tell him her name. He gestured to the cliff, "after you."

Shannon scrunched up her nose at the name Daisy. “That makes me sound like I’m a Golden Retriever,” granted that breed was very pretty, and she had wanted one when she was younger, but of course her mother wanted no animals in her pristine house. She rolled her eyes at him when he gestured for her to go first and inched towards the edge, looking over it. She had to be honest, it was a little scarier in the daytime and sober to see how far down it actually was. She took a deep breath acting like she was backing out before she moved quickly, using her elbow and shoulder to push Reed over the edge, but she was prepared for him to drag her in with him.

"Hey, those are some of the best dogs." Reed pointed out, though he had tended to like working dogs like Border Collies more. He was about to turn to taunt her into jumping when he saw her running towards the edge, about to cheer for her instead when her elbow and shoulder collided with him, knocking him off balance. This wasn't what he had planned but he was going to roll with it, reaching out and grabbing her as he fell off the edge, holding onto Shannon so the two of them would be forced to go down together.

Shannon braced for it, knowing he’d try to reach out and grab her, even though she tried to move out of his grasp. She yelped when he held onto her, and they both fell over the cliff together. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes before they hit the water, and the second they hit the water, she struggled to get out of his grasp, swim for the surface, head for shore. She’d done what he asked, and she didn’t plan to spend anymore time than was necessary around him.

Reed laughed on the way down but when he realized how close they were to the water he sucked in a breath, lucky he managed to before hitting the water. When he felt her push against him he let her go and started to swim towards the surface with long strokes, taking a gasping breath when his head finally broke. He shook out his hair with a laugh as he looked around, spotting Jake yelling at him from sure. He couldn't hear him but he was sure his breathing was calling him and idiot for that stunt.

Shannon reached the surface and took a big breath. It was somehow scarier during the day and sober to jump. She treaded the water a little, knowing she wasn’t the best swimmer, but she knew how to stay alive in the water, for the most part. She sputtered a little, feeling her stomach drop at the thought of drinking any of this dirty water as she looked around for the best place to head back to shore. She spotted Reed before she spotted the area, she could easily make her way back up to the cliff, “Fucking hate camp.” She muttered, hoping to convince her mom not to send her here again, though the alternative was being stuck with her all summer. She started swimming towards the shore, passing him in the process, glaring him down in hopes he’d leave her alone, though she knew better. He was going to become a problem.

Seeing his brother made Reeds desire to get back to shore practically nonexistent, he knew his brother meant well but he didn't feel like being yelled at just yet so he stopped swimming towards shore, kicking his feet to stay afloat as he smoothed his hair back from his face. He watched as Shannon swam by, unable to keep his eyes from trailing her but started laughing when she glared at him, flashing him a big smile. "Don't melt now."

Shannon tried to fight the need to shove his head underwater, but she knew he’d probably just do the same back to her. The image was still there though, and she was going to keep that anger towards him for as long as he bothered her. “More fun at night.” She muttered under her breath, but she wasn’t even sure she’d be back at night to jump again after seeing what it was like during the day, unless she was drunk.

Reed chuckled and finally started to swim towards the shore, quickly catching up to Shannon. He flashed her another grin before passing her, shifting onto his feet when it got shallow enough but when his feet hit the bottom a small zip of paint hit him, making him wince a little but he kept walking until he was out of the water, holding back a groan as Jake walked over and smacked the back of his head, telling him that the way he had jumped off the cliff could have seriously hurt him.

Shannon had the urge to dunk him under the water when he passed her, but she just kept swimming, reaching the shore not too long after he had and watched his brother come at him for that stunt. She smirked, running her hands though her hair, squeezing the water out as she started heading for the top of the cliff for her stuff. She wasn’t about to tell Jake it as all her fault for pushing him over, and she would never admit to it even if Reed called her out.

Reed turned away from Jake, risking the change of another smack to the head as he looked after Shannon. "See you later Princess!" He called with a laugh.

“Never!” Shannon called out as she grabbed her shorts and sandals, and headed back towards her hiding spot, though now that Reed knew, she didn’t feel like it was a good spot to hide after all.
The night had started with Shannon and Kinley pregaming while everyone was in the mess hall for dinner. After everyone was supposed to be in bed, they snuck out with a group of kids and partied in town. She returned to camp, tipsy, but nowhere near tired enough for bed. She flipped off Kinley who disappeared with another guy, and started making her way not towards her cabin, but towards the cliff. “It’s not that scary.” She told herself, getting it in her mind, that she needed to see the cliff again, see that it wasn’t as scary as it had been earlier that day. Shannon reached the cliff edge and looked over, watching the dark waters below, before putting her purse down, and slipped off her shoes.

Reed spent his evening goofing off with the guys, finding Blake pretty hilarious and actually enjoying himself despite the lame activities that the counselors tried to sucker them into but despite all the distractions he couldn't help but notice that a certain blondie was missing. It made him a little suspicious as to what she could be up to but he figured she'd show up eventually. When it had been time for bed he hadn't been able to sleep with everyone snoring around him so he simply snuck out. He didn't have a set place to go but he figured anything was better than laying in the cabin. He had been heading to the lake when he finally saw the girl he'd been thinking about wandering up the trail that lead to the cliffs but he could notice by her walk that something was off. He frowned a little, a bad feeling creeping up the back of his neck so he followed after her, frowning when she started to take off her shoes. "And what do you think you're doing?"

Shannon knew her heartbeat was beating fast, but she felt like the world was suddenly slowing down. Staring down into the waves sent a shiver down her spine, a thought crossing her mind of just ending it there. But a voice suddenly sliced through her delusion and grated in her soul. She rolled her eyes, knowing immediately who was behind her. “None of your business.” She snapped, wondering how he’d found her.

Reed chuckled, of course she'd respond with venom and he liked it. Did that mean there was something wrong with him? Probably. Maybe a hoof had clipped him harder in the head than everyone thought. "Sure sure but when I see a girl who can't walk in a straight line meander up to the cliffs I get a little curious." He said, hooking his thumbs through his belt loops.

At his words, Shannon swayed a little on her feet, but she was able to keep standing. She didn’t feel drunk enough to stumble, but that didn’t mean it wouldn’t hit later, and she wasn’t sure when the pills would hit. “Curiosity killed the cat.” She stated, knowing there was more to the saying, but she turned her attention back to the cliff’s edge, debating on just jumping with her dress on, but a split decision had her shimming out of it, revealing a black strapless bra and matching underwear. She didn’t care about Reed standing there, he’d seen her in a bathing suit, so it was essentially the same thing.

Reed rolled his eyes when she said that, "yeah and jumping off a cliff when drunk can kill you too." He responded but was unable to help himself from looking when she took off her dress, feeling his face turn a little red. He looked away but continued to eye her from the side in case she tried to jump.

Shannon tilted her head back and laughed. A real laugh, shocking even her. “See, I already did it before.” She told him, swaying a little, but righted herself before stepping closer to the edge, turning to face him. “Don’t worry cowboy, no need to stick around.” She smirked, before she jumped. It felt like hours had gone by before she hit the water, the wind rushing past her, she felt the high she always craved hit her, a smile growing on her face. She hit the water, the cold slapping reality into her face, and instantly she was sober. Or at least, that’s what she told herself as she swam for the surface, taking in a deep breath before closing her eyes and wading in the cool water.

"Hey!" Reed shouted, running to the edge of the cliff where she had jumped. At first he almost didn't want to look, sure he'd see a body but he forced himself to, staring into the dark water until he blonde head popped up and she started to swim. He felt like his blood was boiling as he watched her, for a moment understanding why Jake was always on his case. Instead of marching down to shore or even diving into the water he picked up Shannon's dress and shoes, frowning as he started to get an idea.

Shannon wasn’t sure if Reed stayed at the cliff, she knew he didn’t jump in with her. Part of her was a little disappointed that he hadn’t, but she pushed that feeling aside as she took her time swimming back to shore. By the time she stood up and walked onto the shore, she was shivering slightly. “Now I’m ready for bed.” She sighed, actually feeling a lot better, despite being cold. She rung out her hair as she headed back up to the top of the cliff for her clothes.

Reed sighed, tossing aside the idea and started to head down the trail while carrying the dress and shoes, kicking at a couple rocks as he went until she came into view. He rolled his eyes, "you're going to end up catching pneumonia or something." He scoffed but instead of stopping he kept walking, tossing the dress over his shoulder and her shoes hanging from his fingers.

Shannon stopped walking up the cliff when Reed had headed down it towards her, her eyes flittering to her dress and shoes in his hands, then back to his face. She finished ringing out as much water from her hair as she could and started running her fingers through her hair, thinking. She then shrugged her shoulders, smirking, before heading down the path back towards the cabins, trying to ignore how cold she was. “I’ll warm up with a shower.” She commented, knowing that was her next step before bed.

Reed had figured that Shannon would at least take the dress back from her since he obviously didn't have a use for it but the moment she turned back around and was going down the trail towards camp his eyebrow raised. He couldn't stop his gaze from traveling down the curves of her body, admiring the view but her words snapped him out of his trance. Without a second thought he came up behind her, dropped her shoes and looping her dress around her body like a rope with an end in each hand and pulling her back against his chest, tilting his head, "I could always help you warm up." He said in a husky voice.

Shannon thought he’d just watch her leave, keep her dress as a souvenir, or give it back later. Either way, she kept walking with determination to reach her destiny, not realizing Reed had other plans. She didn’t have time to react before her back was pressed up against his chest, her dress acting as a rope keeping her arms at her side making it harder to slip from his grip. “Get off me.” She said through gritted teeth, only pausing slightly when he whispered that he could always warm her up. She chuckled, and despite his voice sending shivers down her spine, she tried pulling from his grip. “Not possible.” She informed him, not telling him more than was needed. He didn’t know she had a frozen heart, that nothing could melt it, even the heat she felt radiating from him. She hated to admit that she liked the feeling, but she wasn’t about to admit that even to herself.
