Audrey grimaced at how dull he sounded when he talked about sports. “So, the only reason you play is because it gives you something to do?” She felt confused by this because it didn’t sound like something he actually enjoyed. “Are some of your friends on the team?” it was the only explanation to her as to why he played, because she had done cheer at first for the same reason, and now enjoyed it.

"Well...yeah...and it's an easy way to get a scholarship to college, and my dad..." He trailed off, shaking his head. His dad didn't matter and he didn't feel like talking about him. "I have a couple friends on the team." He told her, hoping they could continue talking without acknowledging his slip up. He looked around the trail, "we're almost to the spot."

Audrey let the silence fall between them after he mentioned his dad, wondering if there was some bad blood between them. She opened her mouth to tell him he could talk about it if he needed to when he mentioned they were almost at the spot and she got distracted. “Spot? Where are we going?” She hadn’t even thought to ask what his plans were for the day, she had just decided to go along with it.

Tyson let to of the breath he didn't realize he was holding when she fell for the distraction. "You'll see soon." He told her, he has found the spot yesterday when on a hike and thought it would be something that Audrey might like. He took a thinner path off the trail, moving through the brush until it finally opened up to reveal a small meadow but he froze, not expecting to see a few deer milling about between the grass and flowers. Through the middle of the meadow a slow moving creek flowed.

Audrey frowned but followed him, feeling like she suddenly forgot something, but couldn’t remember what it was. She felt like Neville in Harry Potter, and wished she had a way to remember. She was deep in thought and didn’t realize he had stopped till she bumped into him. “Sorry.” She said, though her eyes fell on the deer in the meadow. “Wow.” She whispered, looking around, loving all the wildflowers.

Tyson reached out, putting his arm in front of her so she wouldn't fall or go any further as he watched the deer but within a few seconds their heads were snapped up and the animals were very still as they stared at Audrey and Tyson. Tyson didn't dare say anything and was almost afraid to breathe as the deer stared at them before turning and bounding across the meadow and disappearing between the trees. "Well," he chuckled softly, "I didn't account for that."

Audrey stayed silent, hiding slightly behind Tyson, though she didn’t think the deer would come at them. If anything, they’d probably run the other way, but that didn’t mean it wouldn’t happen. When they bounded off and he commented on him not expecting that, she laughed, “It was a lovely surprise.” She admitted, wondering if that happened a lot when you went camping, because she’d only seen wild animals at the zoo and never really out in the wild.

"Yeah," Tyson laughed a little, slowly taking a few steps into the meadow as the birds continued to chirp and sing above them. "Well this is the first place I found that I wanted to show you, I thought it was pretty cool." He said, wandering over to the creek and looking into the water, it was a little deep and smooth stones lined the bottom. He tilted his head as a crawdad scuttled out from under a rock and across the creek.

Audrey looked around the little meadow, immediately falling in love with all the different flowers. She didn’t really have a favorite flower before, but now she was beginning to see why. There weren’t many bouquets with such gorgeous flowers. “I love it.” She wished she could drag Tori out here, though that girl would act like she was allergic to the fresh air to avoid being outside in the dirt.

"Well that's good," Tyson smiled, glad he had might a good choice in choosing this place to take her to first. He wandered from the creek, grabbing a few long stalks of grass and started to twist them together absently but soon his fingers started to braid them together, thinking briefly of his mom and how, when he and his dad would play baseball, she would sit in the grass and make crowns of dandelions and when he got curious, had shown him how.

“So, do you just walk around until you find places like this?” Audrey asked, her eyes dropping to his hands holding the stalks of grass, wondering if that was a nervous habit of his. Instead of grass, she grabbed a handful of different flowers, wondering if she could have the gardener at home grow them for her.

"Mmm, basically I guess," Tyson chuckled as he continued to braid the flowers, tucking part of the finished strand in his pocket and grabbed three new long blades of grass, starting to braid again. "When you're hiking the point is to see and experience nature but you can also have the goal of making it to a certain point to see like a really good view or something." He said, "I like to just explore."

Audrey sniffed at the bouquet she had created, and wondered if her roommates would tolerate the flowers, though she didn’t care if they couldn’t because they were coming back with her regardless, but she hoped they wouldn’t cause a fight. “Technically, with that definition, I hiked a lot in New York.” Sure it was to watch Broadway shows, go shopping, and hit the clubs that she knew she could get into, but she still took in the sights and scenery.

As he finished the second strand he tucked it into the pocket with the first and started on a third. He looked back at Audrey with a slight smile, "I guess so, though I'm not sure I would want to do much hiking like that. I prefer the outdoors." It was something about how calm it could be that allowed his mind to relax instead of constantly rushing. He quickly finished his third strand and took the first two from his pocket and braided the three together.

“I’m starting to like the fresh air, the lake of pee smell, or hot garbage,” Audrey laughed, though she loved the smell of their Myrtle beach home, the sea, the sun, even the sand had a slight smell to it. She eyed his hands again, noticing he was putting more of the braided grass together, and wondered what he was doing.

Tyson wrinkled his nose, "the smell of pee? That's just gross." He said, glad that where he was from was still a sort of small town, though it had its draw backs-like the constant sad looks and gossip about his dad. He looked down at the grass in his hands and continued to walk, picking flowers and tucking them in between the blades until he was satisfied and stuck the two ends together, tucking them in as much as he could until he was holding a flower crown in his hands. He looked at it then at Audrey and slowly walked over to her. He held out the crown as he looked at her then...promptly put it on his head and grinned.

“New York is really gross sometimes, I don’t know why people glamorize it.” She grimaced, knowing there’d been one too many times she wanted to leave the city immediately. Too many people weren’t always a good thing. She had turned to watch the water flow by them in creek but stopped when she saw Tyson approach. She felt her stomach drop a little at the thought of him putting the crown on her head, but when he placed it on his, her mouth dropped open. “Rude. But you did make it so, it’s technically yours.” She giggled, wondering where he learned that and if he’d be willing to teach her.

Tyson wrinkled his nose and nodded, there were a lot of things in life that were glamorized that didn't deserve to be. He couldn't stop himself from laughing at her reaction, feeling silly for wearing the crown he had made even if it was just the two of them. "I did make it, so I can do whatever I want with it." He agreed, taking the crown off of his head and gently setting it on hers.

Audrey’s pouted face turned into a bright smile as he placed the crown on her head. She couldn’t help but beam with pride that he gave it to her, even if it was after crowning himself. “So, where’s there next stop on this lovely camp experience?”

The way that she smiled at him made Tyson's stomach do a weird flip that made him scared for a moment that he was going to puke but as soon as it came it was gone. "Well if I tell you then that'll ruin the fun." He joked, trying to erase the moment from his mind, "but we have to go this way." He explained, heading towards the creek again, picking up speed and jumping across it to the other side. It wasn't the wide of a jump but he turned to face Audrey, ready to help her if she needed him.

“Alright, I think I trust you,” Audrey smirked, though felt like Jasmine in Aladdin when he asked if she trusted him. So far Tyson hadn’t given her any reason to be suspicious of him, and she really did enjoy just hanging out with him. A small feeling of him not enjoying the club crossed her mind, but she would cross that bridge when it came. She stopped at the edge of the creek, noticing the wide gap she’d have to jump and how easy it had been for him. “You make that look easy.” She chuckled but decided to imagine it being a drunk guy she needed to get over and jumped. She landed on the other side but ended up stumbling a little.

"You think you trust me?" He repeated, raising an eyebrow, "probably should have decided that before following me into the forest." He joked, stepping a little closer when he saw her hesitate but then she was across the water and he was reaching out, hands landing on the sides of her waist to steady her.

Audrey shivered when she felt his hands hold her at her waist, her own hands reaching out for something to hold, and found herself using his chest, the flowers she had picked coming between them. “I trust you, should I not?” She asked with a smile, tilting her head to the side, wondering how long they planned to stand like this.

Tyson looked back at her, letting go of her waist and taking a step back. "I haven't given you a reason not to." He replied, feeling like his hands were burning but not in an unpleasant way but didn't want to dive into what that meant. "C'mon." He turned and started to walk across the meadown and back into the forest.

Audrey was a little disappointed Tyson didn’t play along with her silent game, but she didn’t read too much into it. “No, you haven’t.” She agreed, following him down a path that went across the meadow below the creek and into the forest once more. “This would be the place to lose my trust though, I’ve watched plenty of horror stories and I’m not afraid to book it.” She laughed, knowing she could only hope to outrun whatever evil there was.

"Naw you're good, I don't want to get blood stains on my cool shirt." Tyson joked, glancing back at her with a slight smirk. "You don't need to worry...unless you're afraid of heights or something." He added as he continued on the trail but paused when something caught his eye. He stopped walking and bent down, picking up a rock from the ground and brushing back the dirt to see that part of it shimmered in the light peaking through the branches. He tucked the rock into his pocket and resumed walking.

Audrey rolled her eyes, but her smile curled upwards at his silly joke. “Uh, I don’t think I’m afraid of heights.” She’d been to parties at the top of towers and had often looked over the edge without fear, and she flew in a helicopter, which had been super exciting. She almost bumped into him again when he randomly stopped, but as able to catch herself as she watched him pick up a rock. “Do you like rocks?” She asked with a raised eyebrow, wondering what was so great about them.

"You don't think? I guess we'll figure that out then." He chuckled, he honestly hoped she wasn't afraid of heights or else this whole hike would be a waste. Maybe he had lied a little about his shirt meaning they were climbing a mountain but technically this wasn't a mountain but he didn't know what it would be called because 'a really big hill' sounded stupid. He felt a little awkward when she asked if he liked rocks, feeling a little like a child. "Uh...yeah," he reached into his pocket and pulled out the rock to show her, it was grey, lumpy, and otherwise unremarkable except for the slight glimmer it got in the light, "it has mica flecks in it."

Audrey shrugged, wondering if there was anything she actually was scared of, but nothing really came to mind. “Find out? How high are we actually going?” she hoped this wasn’t going to be a trail that went to the summit of the mountain. She looked over the rock he showed her with curiosity, “I don’t know what mica is.” She admitted, wondering she it as something she should know.

"You'll see." Tyson shrugged as he looked at the rock and pointed at the shiny bits of it. "Mica is a thin mineral that formed with the rock, I think it's a kind of crystal but I know it's used to make like insulation and paint." He explained, "I just think it looks cool."
