![](https://iv1.lisimg.com/image/22480428/740full-shaelah-mcgilton.jpg) “Alright, everyone pair up into groups for the selfie scavenger hunt! Try to pair up with someone you don’t know already, try and make a new friend!” Audrey rolled her eyes at how enthusiastic the counselor was, betting she was the type that was a stickler for the rules. She’d have to watch her closely, even befriend her a little, just so she could sneak around and have fun. She eyed the group around her, smacking her gum and checking out the boys that had gathered in a group to work together. She didn’t know anyone here, so bonus for her, everyone had a chance to become her new best friend.

At the mention of a scavenger hunt Tahlia withheld a groan, why did these types of places always want to do some kind of stupid ice breaker? She would much rather be on her own and leave it up to fate whether she made friends or not, which wasn't high on her list of to-do's after being sent to this place. She watched as other campers paired up, eventually leaving her and a brunette who seemed to not know how her chewing gum was reminiscent to a cow chewing cud while staring at some boys. She couldn't stop herself from looking at the group of boys, eyebrow raising as she slowly walked over to the girl, hooking her thumbs into her front pockets. "Bet they won't even finish this hunt thing."

The second the blonde spoke, Audrey stopped smacking her gum and smirked. “Probably not, especially if I distract them,” She laughed, rolling her eyes, though the thought of making out with a guy sounded more fun than a stupid scavenger hunt. A quick look around informed Audrey that everyone else had already paired up. “I’m Audrey, shall we team up?” she held out her hand to her, not caring if the girl decided to ditch her not.

Tahlia snickered, "I doubt that prize isn't even that good, should be easy enough to distract them." She said as she looked at the group of boys, who seemed like they were swarming in testosterone and wanting to prove themselves over something stupid, which would be entertaining all on its own. "Tahlia," she said as she reached out and shook her hand, "we might as well, everyone else seems to have their groups already made."

“It’s probably just some lame dollar tree prize, something that breaks in two seconds,” What a waste of her time, Audrey thought, but she wanted to blow off time till she planned to sneak out, why not blow a few hours on a scavenger hunt. “Yeaaaaah, and if I’m going to be miserable, I might as well make someone else just as miserable.” She teased, eyeing Tahlia up and down and finding the girl pretty. She smiled, instantly liking the girl, “So, is this your first time to this camp?” She asked, eyeing the group of boys, looking the long blonde-haired guy up and down.

"Like a stupid little trophy or something, or one of those crappy little plastic medals on a ribbon." Tahlia snorted in amusement, wondering if they'd do anything if people just snuck off instead of participating in this stupid scavenger hunt, even the promise of fooling around with boys wasn't even that interesting to her, if she had a choice she'd be out riding a horse or going on a hike on her own. "Yeah, first time, hopefully the last but who knows." She said with a shrug, attention flittering from the group of boys to the area around them. "You?"

Audrey grimaced as she took the sheet from the too eager conselor and looked at the list.
Selfie Scavenger Hunt - Resident camp Dog - Pinecones - Squirrel - Flowers - Insect - Mushroom - Moss - Campfire - Animal Tracks “So, we take selfies with each thing? Seems boring enough.” She rolled her eyes, not really caring if the counselor overheard her. As she headed off down the same path the group of boys had gone. “So, what cabin are you in?” She had arrived late, so she got the worst pick in the cabin, the three other girls had already moved in and left to explore the camp before the bonfire tonight. That’s what she planned to sneak out, she already had a ride ready to pick her up.

Tahlia glanced over the list, her first question being that there was a camp dog and the second being where the hell was it and when could she pet it, the rest of the items held little concern to her. "At least it should be boring." She said with a shrug, walking along next to Audrey's side, the path wide enough to allow it. "Uh, cabin 3, you?" She had gotten there early in the day and threw her stuff on the bed then dipped outside before meeting any other bunk mates, figuring they had enough time to get to know each other later.

“Boring, except the camp dog, he sounds cute,” Audrey had no idea the camp had a dog on campus, an official camp dog made it sound like it was here for the entire summer, which was exciting to know she could go and pet a dog anytime she wanted to. She smirked when she mentioned cabin 3, “Sweet, that’s the same cabin I’m in. Which side did you pick?” She hoped it was the same side she was on, otherwise, she planned to kick out whoever it was.

"Yeah, we definitely have to find the dog." Tahlia agreed, wondering if it was going to be an old sleepy hound or an energetic mix of something. "Really?" She raised an eyebrow, what were the odds that the two of them would end up being in the same cabin, "I took the left side, I just chucked my bag on the bed and left."

“I bet it’s like some golden mix, or a mutt from the pound,” Audrey thought it over, having always wanted a dog growing up, though more of the fluffy little kind like a Pomeranian. “I bet it’s near the main office building, or the mess hall,” Though the dog could be wandering anywhere, even on a hike to make the scavenger more difficult. At the mention of the bag on the bed, Audrey smirked. “Same side, what a fucking coincidence.” She laughed, wondering how the universe was working in her favor, but she wasn’t going to question it now.

"Either way I bet it's cute." Tahlia replied, like Audrey she had wanted a dog growing up but unlike her she had been able to have one after throwing a fit, her parents caving quickly and giving her a a yellow lab that she, unfortunately had leave back home when she was shipped off. Unlike her horse her dog hadn't been sold off, which was because of her father who loved the dog almost more than she did. "We'll keep an eye out for the dog when we go to these other places, kill two birds with one stone and all that," she shrugged, smiling a little, "damn, next thing you know we'll end up dorming together if you're going to Mountain Ridge."

“I’ve always wanted a dog,” Audrey rolled her eyes, knowing her family had dogs, but they weren’t pets, they were guard dogs. They didn’t cuddle, play fetch, or sleep in her bedroom every night. “Mom always said she didn’t want her gorgeous furniture ruined,” She muttered under her breath loud enough for Tahlia to hear the resentment. She raised an eyebrow when Tahlia mentioned Mountain Ridge, “So, does everyone whose attending this camp also go to the school?” She found that weird, and yet, not weird at the same time. Why not send your kid to a camp near their school to get rid of them sooner.

"My mom hates dogs too, but I suckered my dad into getting one and now he's more attached to him than I am." She said with a little laugh, it didn't bother her before when she had her horse but now she wished she had some kind of companion. "Apparently," she raised an eyebrow, taking Audrey's answer for a yes, "at least this lets us scope things out before getting locked away into boring ass classes."

Audrey chuckled, “I wish my dad would, he’s too nice.” She scrunched up her face, but she was envious of her parents’ marriage, her dad would do anything for his wife, and she was loyal to the death to him. She raised an eyebrow to match Tahlia’s, wondering if the guy she saw at the beginning of the scavenger hunt would also be attending Mountain Ridge. “Well, I was hoping to have a fling with someone I would never see again.” She laughed, but this also works too.

Tahlia shrugged a little as she thought of her Dad, he was a good man and a harder worker but...when it came to confrontation and her mother any hint of a backbone he might have had disappeared. She looked back at Audrey, unable to stop herself from smirking, "just because you have a fling with someone from school doesn't mean you have to acknowledge them when we go back...unless they're like...really good." She said with a snicker.

Audrey giggled, “I wouldn’t mind repeating if its good, I just want to have fun,” Even though her father told her to be more responsible, and grown up, but what fun was it to be an adult? “So, since we are roomies, I guess we should get to know each other,” She half rolled her eyes, smirking at the same time. “So, what do you like to do for fun?”

Tahlia couldn't stop herself from laughing, she could agree with wanting to have fun, maybe if she was lucky she could find someone to fool around with but so far no one she had seen had caught her eye. "I ride horses," she said at first, pausing to to think of what else she liked to do, "party, piss off my mom, shopping. You know, the usual." She joked, "what about you?" She glanced over at their list for their scavenger hunt then looked round, pointing at a few scattered pine cones around a some trees, "found out first thing...wait, how the fuck are we taking a selfie with a squirrel? I'm not getting close enough to get attacked."

Audrey made a slight face at the mention of horses. She wasn’t a horse girl, that phase must have skipped over her, she didn’t see the appeal. “For like, fun? Just, ride around?” She wasn’t sure what was fun about sitting on top of a big smelly horse going in circles. “I like to party, and shop, and get my nails done,” She pissed off her parents too, which was part of their reasons for sending her here, as a babysitter. She rolled her eyes at that, wondering wat got Victoria running from their fabulous life back home. “Maybe there’s a fake squirrel somewhere?” She shrugged, picking up a pinecone and pulling out her phone for them to take a selfie.

Seeing Audrey's face made Tahlia laugh, "for fun and competition. It was a way for me to get the hell out of the house for a while until I pissed off my mom and she sold my horse. Fucking bitch." She muttered the last part, the thought of her mother making anger climb up the back of her neck, she still remembered the day she came home from school and Maple was gone. "Hey at least we got some stuff in common, except every time I tried to get my nails done they were destroyed within days." She looked around the trees as if a squirrel would magically appear, "maybe if we're lucky the dog will have a toy one or something."

Audrey was rarely at her own house, usually goofing around at the mall or someone’s house for a party, but if she didn’t have that, she guessed she would want some way to get out. “She sold your horse?” her mouth dropped open, even if she barely cared about it, but it still seemed like a dick move to do. She laughed, “What are you doing to make your nails break?” Other than riding a horse, she wondered if the girl was fighting or digging in the dirt or something. “Maybe,” She was about to say something about the dog, when something caught her eye. “Oh my gawd, that’s it.” She pointed to one of the buildings she wasn’t sure what it was used for, but on the outside, there was a giant wooden squirrel made out of a tree trunk.

"Yup," Tahlia swallowed the lump that was threatening to form in her throat, "I got in a fight at school and I guess that was the last straw," she shrugged, glancing down at her feet, "oh, fighting, hunting, taking care of my horse when I had her, stupid shit that didn't make having them worth it." She explained, almost jumping when she pointed at the building, her eyebrows raising, "a freaking squirrel carving? Now that's something." She wondered who in the world saw a tree trunk and thought: squirrel.

Audrey wasn’t the type to fight, unless it was for her life. She felt her face was too pretty to mess up and often would just walk away laughing. “I was partying too much I guess,” She shrugged, but a smirk played on her lips. She promised her parents she’d stop partying during the week and keep an eye out on Victoria, but they didn’t say anything about the weekend. She wondered if she’d try having nails again now that she didn’t have a horse to care for, though if she got into fights, that was all on her. She shrugged her shoulders, “It’s the only squirrel I’m willing to get near enough for a selfie.” She laughed, moving towards the tree trunk, wrapping her arms around the creature and posing for a selfie.

Tahlia could tell by that smirk that Audrey held no regret about her partying, which made her like the girl a little more. "I probably would have partied more but my parents had us live in the middle of nowhere," she said with a roll of her eyes. She looked at the squirrel carving then at Victoria, shrugging a little, "same." She walked over and joined Audrey for the selfie, sticking out her tongue.

“That sounds absolutely terrible, almost as bad as getting stuck out here at this BFE camp,” Audrey rolled her eyes as she checked out the picture they’d just picked up. She eyed Tahlia from the side, figuring she could trust the chick not to say anything, “I plan to sneak out tonight to find some fun, you in?” she figured she would be.

Tahlia snorted when Audrey said the camp was in BFE, she wasn't wrong about that. She looked over at her, curiosity sparking in her eyes when she mentioned sneaking out. "A chance to get out of this place and have some actual fun? Count me in." She grinned, wondering what kind of trouble they could get into.

Audrey couldn’t help but smirk, glad that she wasn’t the type to tattle. “Perfect, one of the counselors promised to drive me off of this camp and into town.” She hoped at least that he wasn’t going to trap her, turn her in, but their make out session said otherwise. “I’m pretty sure I saw a club while driving through town. I’ve got a fake ID.” She assumed and hoped that Tahlia had the same.

"Well you work fast and know just the strings to pull." Tahlia joked, wondering how Audrey was able to find the right counselor to do what she wanted. She considered the idea of going to a club, having done her fair share of sneaking into places back home. "What a coincidence, so do I." She smirked.

“When I was told I’d be spending some time at this camp, I came up with a game plan. No way was I going to sit around and pretend I want to be her,” Audrey laughed, shaking her head. Sure, she promised her parents she would be on her best behavior, and she would be. Audrey planned to do all the activities, sing all the songs, and with Tahlia she might be able to claim to her parents she made a friend. But she planned to sneak out at night, drink when she got the chance, and have some fun. “Perfect, we’ll have a night on the town.” She couldn’t wait, thinking this school might not be so bad after all.

Tahlia's eyebrows raised, surprised and impressed by Audrey's dedication to having fun and actually take steps towards achieving those plans. "Sounds like a great plan to me," she agreed with a slight smirk, "anything beats having to sit around getting eaten by freaking mosquitos all night."
