“Here you go, have fun!” Cosette awkwardly said to a student as she handed a goodie bag over to her. The student didnt act like anything was wrong, but Cosette had felt awkward. She sat down into the chair next to Aleah, wishing she could be as chill as her about this. “Dare i ask how long this event is?” She asked, hoping she didnt sound impatient, but she was wanting to fit in a night ride. She didnt let her heart hope Silas would still be there, and didnt think about him saying yes to a ride with her. She couldnt commit, not with the fear that her ex might find her, though she still hadnt heard from anyone about him, hoping that was a good sign.

Aleah smiled to another student, handing them a goodie bag before turning to Cosette and sitting by her, crossing on leg over her knee and fixing her skirt. She laughed a little, "a few more hours now, I think there's two movies that are supposed to play before that part shuts down." She said and tucked some hair behind her ear. "Feeling a little antsy?" She teased, knowing that chaperoning wasn't everyone's cup of tea but she didn't mind. Hell she helped come up with majority of the events and it wasn't like much else was going on in her life to take up her time and she needed something to keep her off her phone lately.

Cosette only smiled, not wanting to admit that she was, “just hoping to get a ride in tonight,” though she probably would still ride if it was midnight. She hasn’t been able to all day, having helped Aleah set up instead. She wanted to do whatever she could to lessen the blow of how terrible she was going to be at teaching. “I love how you don’t make these mandatory, that was one thing at school I hated.” She chuckled, remembering being bored a lot of the times during school at events such as this.

Aleah nodded slowly, she should have figured. She wanted to go for a ride tonight too, but not on a horse of course. "Well once we hand out out all the goodie bags you can take off." She said, not thinking they needed too many people to chaperone if things kept going chill. "Oh yeah, I want people to at least have fun when they have to work these things." She said, pausing to hand out another goodie bag before turning to Cosette. "How have things been going? Feeling settled enough to start teaching?"

“Oh, I can stay longer if I’m needed.” Cosette quietly cursed herself, knowing Silas wouldn’t stay all nice at the barn, but she also didn’t want to seem so eager, “I’d feel bad you know.” She admitted, though felt excited at getting free early enough to ride with Silas. She froze, telling herself it was just so she wasn’t in complete darkness during the ride. “Even if I’m not ready, I short of have to grow up and be ready.” She shrugged her shoulders, knowing she felt more at ease riding in the ring than teaching

"Well it's up to you to decide if you want to stay or not, I won't force you, I'm the only one required to stay until all this is over." She shrugged, figuring that it would be best to set an example for her employees by remaining and besides, it sometimes her best rides were at night. She leaned against the table as she looked at Cosette, tilting her head, "you'll do perfectly fine."

Cosette raised an eyebrow, wondering if this was some sort of test or something, though she didn’t get that feeling from Aleah, but she still felt a little guilty about ditching too early. Cosette let the silence fall as a group of kids showed up, handing out bags left and right, before she sat down again. “What happens if they create a riot?” She grimaced, wondering how unruly these kids were, though she felt like because of it was a prestigious school, they should before, but she wasn’t so sure.

"A riot?" Aleah couldn't help but laugh, "I guess if it gets that bad then this whole thing will get shut down and cops will be called, but I highly doubt anything like that will happen. The kids here behave for the most part." She explained, sure that the kids did a lot of things behind the scenes that she didn't know about, but it would be impossible to monitor everyone, especially if they left campus to do whatever activities they got curious about.

Cosette nodded, having heard that the most students were caught doing was drinking and sneaking out, something that she even did as a teenager. “And you have a security team, right?” She’d read that it was something the parents had voted to pay for, although it seems that most security guards weren’t enforcing the curfew for some students.

Aleah nodded, "we do, the parents insist on it," she shrugged, knowing the extra security was a good thing but at the same time it almost felt like overkill because some rich people thought it would keep their kids from acting out when in reality it made them think of ways to act sneakier to get what they wanted or do whatever they wanted.

Cosette thought about the dangers that might try and sneak in, images of bloody walls and lightning flashing outside came to mind, and she couldn’t stop the sick feeling in her stomach. “So. How late do you have to stay here?” She asked, wanting to change the subject, but was struggling to think of anything other than when they could leave. She worried that she'd head to the barn, and Silas wouldn't be there, and the thought of being alone at the moment didn't appeal to her.

Aleah swore something shifted on Cosette's face for a second but couldn't name it. She decided not to pry, "I think the event it supposed to end at 9 but clean up will probably be done until 10...so then." She laughed a little bit, "I don't have much of a life outside of work and riding my bike." She said with a somewhat sheepish smile.

Cosette wondered if ten was too late to go for a ride, but she wasn’t sure she wanted to take a risk of Silas not being out in the barn when she got there. “Do you want a life outside of work and… Riding?” She chuckled, knowing the answer was probably yes. “Why don’t you come riding with me tonight, it’ll be something different.” It was worth a shot, even if Aleah said no.

Aleah raised an eyebrow, "you want me to try riding a horse?" She asked with a bit of suspicion then shrugged, "why not? I have good health insurance, just promise not to leave me in the middle of nowhere if I get bucked off." She joked.

“I mean, we can always double up? Estella can do it.” Cosette was confident her horse would be able to handle double riders, though she knew there were bigger horses they could use, but she wasn’t confident in their attitudes yet. She smiled softly, “Well, I wouldn’t give you a horse that was going to do that.” Though, there was the potential of it happening, even with the most gentle of horses.

Aleah smiled slightly, "well...I guess I wouldn't mind trying, it could be fun." She said, even though the idea of riding a massive animal did make her a bit nervous. At least with her bike she was fully in control but on a horse? Those beasts had a mind of their own and she wasn't sure how well that would actually go.

“Don’t force yourself if you aren’t ready, you can always come by another time,” Cosette figured she could at least go down, and see Estella if Silas wasn’t there, though she was still worried about going down there alone. “Estella’s a good girl, I could ride one of the others.” She hated it but at least she’d still get to ride.

"If you give me that option I probably won't," Aleah joked, "I'll go down there with you...unless, no, never mind." She smiled sweetly, but felt a little awkward. She had wanted to tease her about Silas but didn't want to make things awkward. She nodded as Cosette talked about Estella, her smile softening. "We can figure it out when we get down there."

Cosette raised an eyebrow, “Unless what?” She asked, having a feeling she knew what she was going to say, afraid to know what it was, but the question was already out of her mouth before she could stop herself. “If you decided to come.” She teased, but she hoped she would. A group of students came through the entrance, and they were finding them low on goodie bags, “I hope that’s the last of them, might not be able to hand out much more after the next round.” She grimaced, wondering if all the students were planning to come or not.

"Oh nothing." Aleah smiled sweetly, grateful for the students interruption and helped pass out the bags until they were well on their way. "I decided to come, to at least check it out," she said, "if we end up running out of bags then we end up running out, this is a first come first serve kind of thing." Aleah shrugged, sure if someone got upset about it she'd end up with a phone call from an angry parent that she'd have to roll her eyes out and act oh so concerned about when in all reality she didn't give a shit about what these spoiled people cared about.

Cosette narrowed her eyes at Aleah, but decided to drop it, thinking it wasn’t worth pushing if she was so stubborn not to tell her. “You’ll tell me eventually,” Was all she said about the subject before taking her seat once more and looking at how many bags they had left. “So, how did you find yourself as a principal at this school?” She didn’t expect everyone to have similar stories to hers, running from a crazy ex that might try and kill her, though she still believed Henri would never harm her.

"Yeah probably," Aleah laughed, finding it a little funny that Cosette would call her out but it wasn't like she didn't like it. "Oh," she paused at Cosette's question, frowning a little bit, "it's kind of a personal...and embarrassing story." She said with a slight shrug, "like...so embarrassing you'll take pity on me for the rest of our lives." She tried to lighten the mood a little.

“Aleah, you’re the principal of this school,” Cosette said in her best English, though she struggled just a little on principal, but she as smirking. “I already take pity on you, having to deal with all these kids. I only have a few.” And she was grateful for that, the thought of having more felt terrifying, though she knew she had to step up if she saw something going on, But that was only a rare occurrence. “But it’s okay, don’t feel forced.” She didn’t want to push away the one friend she’d made so far.

Aleah snorted when she tried to hold back her laughter, Cosette was right in a way, it was a hassle at times to deal with all of the kids and then their parents on top of it but it was the career she had chosen. "I'll tell you just...don't take pity on me," she hoped she wouldn't, she knew her mom still cried about it. "I was left at the altar back home and I couldn't stand everyone staring at me like I was pathetic so I took the first job opportunity offered to me and, well, here I am." She shrugged, busying herself with straightening out the goody bags on the table.

Cosette stared at Aleah, thinking how awful that must have been, but she understood why she didn’t want any pity about it. Someone laughed loudly nearby, taking her attention away, she didn’t want to say the wrong thing, especially in broken English. “So, do you want to get a drink later?” she asked, smirking, figuring she could probably use one if it still bothered her.

Aleah could feel Cossette's eyes on her, her jaw clenching slightly as she waited for her to say something but Aleah had already heard it all ranging from the you deserve better to oh you sweet baby and frankly she was over it all. Instead Cosette offered to go out for drinks and Aleah smiled a little, "that would be great actually."

Cosette smiled, though she turned her attention back to the event, starting to feel guilty about not being able to share her own story. She hoped Aleah would understand if she ever got the chance to explain. “I know there’s at least one bar in this town.” She’s stumbled upon it the first night she arrived here, needing something to calm her nerves before she could settle herself into her new home.

"Yeah, The Pines, they have pretty good drinks." Aleah agreed, having gone there a couple times but rarely stayed too long, feeling kind of lame for being there by herself when she went. "The owner is pretty nice, probably a workaholic but he does a good job."

“Sounds familiar,” Cosette chuckled, thinking Silas was kind of a workaholic too, sometimes she felt like she was, but she also didn’t have anything else to do around here at the moment. Most of her time back in France was spent traveling, practicing, competing. “I don’t have any plans Saturday, obviously.” She smirked, though she felt a twinge of embarrassment at that, but she forced the feeling aside.

Aleah laughed, shaking her head, "it seems to be a theme around these parts." She said, being a bit of a workaholic herself, it was easier to keep her mind occupied this way. "I don't have plans on Saturday either, the people I usually go out for rides with have plans or something so it was easier just to skip this weekend."
