Riell shook her head, "don't worry about it, it's not like I get a bunch of visitors out here." She joked, besides Reign and her Dad delivering hay no one else really came around unless they somehow got lost or if she needed to hire someone to do something that she couldn't, which was few and far between since she had taught herself to do majority of the upkeep outside of tending to the animals. "I'd offer for you to ride a horse but I have a feeling you don't ride." She teased.

“Really? No creepy lost hikers? Crazy people looking to steal… Something?” Jeb wasn’t even sure if this town had any thieves or not, but maybe every city did. “Ah, yeah no… Wouldn’t know how to get on… A horse.” He cleared his throat, hoping he wouldn’t have to get too close to one anytime soon.

Riell grimaced, she did worry about that some times but she did have protection on her most of the time and the dogs were good at warning her...and her security system. "Luckily no, then again I don't have much to steal," she said with a small smile and pushed a plate towards him along with a fork. "It's okay, horse riding isn't for everyone, I'm still not that confident with it myself if I'm being honest."

Jeb frowned, “Plenty to steal, this house for instance,” He scoffed teasingly, knowing if she saw his place in the slums of Graymore she might think he was homeless like his dad. He stared down at the plate before him, feeling like he was just served his last meal before death row, but he wasn’t charged with murder, and he didn’t think Riley would poison his food, so he started digging in. “They are big, and could crush my toes.” Probably could do worse than that, but he didn’t want to think about it while eating.

"I'd like to see someone try." She laughed as she made herself a plate, leaning against the counter as she started to eat, nodding at his comment about horses. "They also bite, but I'd rather not talk about how animals can hurt you, seems a bit dark," she teased. "Besides, the couple of horses I have are really just here for retirement, not to actually be ridden." She explained, "most of my animals here are rescues anyway."

Jeb chuckled, betting even if anyone came to this place they’d have to contend with the dogs and she had mentioned guns, he wouldn’t want to try anything. He was stupid, but not that stupid. He raised an eyebrow, “Dark?” He wouldn’t consider that dark, maybe a light gray, sometimes videos of people getting bit was funny, especially with birds like ducks and geese. “So, are you like, a sanctuary?” She had mentioned the two cats at the shelter looking for a home, he’d gone out and adopted to kittens on his own from the shelter after that.

"It's dark to me when I work with them every day." She pointed out, grimacing at the idea of losing a finger to a horse bit or being trampled. She turned to her coffee pot and poured herself a cup, looking over at Jeb and holding up the pot as an offer to see if he wanted any. "Not exactly," she said with a thoughtful expression, "or at least not intentionally. I do go online and if there's an animal someone's trying desperately to get rid of and I have to ability to care for it I'll usually reach out but I do have a few animals here that I use to support myself."

Jeb just shrugged as he scooped the last of the eggs onto his fork, a smirk playing on his lips as he thought about those videos of swans, ducks, and geese attacking people, laughing his high ass off. No one was ever hurt, other than a bruised ego. He nodded his head at her offer, knowing he’d probably just go home and sleep, but it wouldn’t hurt him to drink a little coffee so he could make it there. “That’s cool.” Debating on stopping at the pet store for more toys for his kittens, betting they were curled up on his bed cuddling.

Riell poured in a cup of coffee and passed it over to her. "Yeah, I might have a bit of a soft spot for strays." She joked, turning and leaning her back against the counter as her gaze drifted out to the wall of windows, watching a couple of her goats running around in their pen. "You seemed pretty disappointed when you found out I didn't have a kangaroo last night." She joked.

“Does that include people?” Jeb joked, feeling like a stray himself, even if he had a job, a house, and food in the fridge. He blinked when she told him he talked about a kangaroo. “I asked you about a kangaroo?” He asked, feeling like that was random of him to care.

"It could," Riell chuckled softly, she didn't mind opening up her home, but she was always going to be cautious about it. She looked over at him with a smile, "yeah, you did, you made it seem like it was pretty pointless to have a farm without one."

“Nah man, fuck those motherfuckers. They punch people. I don’t want to go near them.” Jeb chuckled, though had watched a guy fight one for his dog, and could see himself not hesitating to do the same, but he did not like fighting.

Riell snorted, almost spitting out her coffee but managed to stop herself but had to put her mug down before she dropped it. "Alright, good to know," she laughed, shaking her head. "I was thinking more about how impractical it would be to have one but that's a good point too."

“Funny when stupid people try though,” Jeb chuckled, his smirk turning into a smile as he decided those idiots wanting a picture with the animal deserved the punch. “Wild animals are not something I’d mess with, I’m no Steve Irwin.” He thought about that, then thought about maybe one day visiting Australia and New Zealand. “Have you ever been to New Zealand?”

"I'm sure, there's always stupid people getting too close to wild animals." She said, thinking of all the videos that pop up about stupid tourist getting too close to buffalo at Yellow Stone who usually ended up getting yeeted by the massive beasts. "You're not Steve Irwin? You could have fooled me, the only thing you're missing is the accent." She joked, pausing slightly at his question, almost saying yes since she'd done concerts there but stopped herself. "No I haven't, but it seems like a cool place to go."

Jeb frowned slightly, though he was still smiling through it. “I don’t think I’m Steve, he was a legend. I couldn’t hold a hamster if someone asked me too.” He was sure the little thing would just start crawling all over him, making it tough to catch the little sucker. “I wouldn’t mind traveling there, even if they have scary bugs.” He shuddered, feeling like he was crawling with them, though he knew it was just goosebumps.

Riell laughed again, "hamsters aren't too bad, they're just really fast." She said and finished off her coffee, looking back outside and watching the goats, shaking her head as one charged another, the second stiffening up and falling on its side, laying there for a few seconds before popping back up and running off. "Ugh, bugs, mosquitos are the worst." She said with a shake of her head, "and beetles."

“A little too fast for me,” Jeb was perfectly fine with an old dog or a couple of kittens, but something small and fast would easily slip past him and his stonerbrain with ease. “And in Australia, they are bigger.” He shuddered, thinking of a few species of spider he’d want to avoid out there.

"Me too honestly, and just a bit too delicate." She said, having gone through a few when she was younger and didn't know better and now having read some horror stories off of Reddit about how people had lost their hamsters. "Ugh," she shuddered at the idea of all the large insects in Australia, she could handle the ones out here for the most part but when it came to ones as big as her hand she felt like she'd just give up on life. "I don't know if I want to go there, all the animals seem dangerous."

Jeb wouldn’t don’t if they were delicate or not, he didn’t have too many animals growing up, just whatever stray decided to wander around outside the family home. He always tried to tempt them to stay by feeding them, but they were either caught or disappeared. He chuckled, “If I do go, I only want to stay at the shore… I’m more interested in New Zealand.” His leg bounced with excitement at the idea of seeing were the movie was filmed.

"Why so interested in New Zealand?" Riell asked, wondering what it was about it that made it stick our more than other countries, knowing that some people wanted to go to places like Japan or England because of the history or some kind of tv show. She thought New Zealand was beautiful, it had been when she had gone there but she hadn't had much of the chance to act like a tourist when she was there.

Jeb sat up a little straighter, having a few people chuckle at ho nerdy it sounded to go off to see Lord of the Rings in person. “Well, it’s one of many places, you talked about Kangaroos.” He motioned with his hands that one thing led to another, and then “New Zealand.” He shrugged, knowing it was technically the truth.

Riell raised an eyebrow, not completely buying what he was trying to sell her. "Uh huh, except when people talk about kangaroos they think about Australia," she told him but there wasn't judgement in her tone, more so curiosity. "So why New Zealand, really?"

“Because it’s next to Australia?” Jeb shrugged, hoping that would explain things enough as he drank the last of the coffee, and cleaned off his plate. He could use this energy to walk back to his car and drive home, get high again and just relax in bed. “Is weed legal in New Zealand?” That’s what he would, try the new batch that came in. He always liked to see if there was an effect, if he could steer his customers to a good high.

Riell nodded slowly, letting him off the hook since apparently he didn't want to be honest with her. She wouldn't take it personally. Her eyebrow did raise when he asked about weed being legal. "I...have no idea." She replied, back in the day it was way easier to score anything so laws didn't have to be considered. She pushed away from the counter, taking care of their dishes, scraping aside what she could for the pigs and putting the rest in the dish washer. She loved living out in the forest but she didn't love having to wash her cutlery by hand. "I can give you ride down to your car if you're ready to head out, I just need to give this to the pigs before leaving."

“Damn, gonna have to find out before I go.” It was the one thing so far Jeb couldn’t go without after a couple of days. He could always get through not needing any of his other fixings if he had weed on board. He watched her clean, feeling bad that she had also cooked, but his body felt like an awkward deadweight. He perked up slightly when she offered to give him a ride. “If you are okay with that, that would be great.” He’d get home fast to Boromir and Faramir then.

Riell laughed softly and looked through her refrigerator, picking out some food that had been there for a bit too long but was still good enough for the pigs, adding it to the pile she already had going. "Of course I'm okay with it, I figured I'd give you a ride back after I trucked you all the way out here." She teased, and headed out the back door, slipping on a pair of sneakers. "Now you can come along with me outside or hide out in here, this shouldn't take too long but I should check on the goats to make sure they aren't causing too much fuss."

Jeb looked outside and shivered, not from the cold, but from the thought of bees. “Are you sure they aren’t flying around out there?” he asked, running a hand through his mop of hair, knowing it probably looked bad. He wouldn't mind walking around a little, wanting to wake up so he wasn't so groggy he fell alseep in the car.

"Yes," she replied, glancing down at her still stung arm, "as long as you don't poke around the hives you'll be fine." She reassured him then pushed open the door, "you can look at the fainting goats if you want, you've been talking about them too." She joked, walking out onto the deck then into the grass, heading towards the barn as one of her dogs trotted up next to her side, sniffing at the plate of scraps.

Jeb shook his head, “I don’t bother wild animals,” He reminded her, though he’d help one if it needed it, to the best of his ability. He chuckled about the fainting goats. “I would like to see these goats, yes.” He’d chuckle for sure if one or two fainted. He followed her out into the backyard, looking around as the dogs came around sniffing again, once again ignoring him.
