You got a fast car
And I want a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better
Starting from zero, got nothing to lose
Maybe we'll make something
Name: Sunny D'Hayes

Me, myself, I got nothing to prove
You got a fast car
I got a plan to get us out of here
See, my old man's got a problem
He lives with the bottle, that's the way it is
He says his body's too old for working
His body's too young to look like his
Tenacious- A fancy way to say that she's stubborn. She sticks to her guns and can be argumentative to prove her point. She rarely, if ever gives up, which means that when she gets to that point it's almost like there is no return and it hurts her deeply.
Fun- Her wild spirit is still well alive, even after becoming a mother and having to grow up fast. She loves to laugh and to put smiles on other people's faces. It's one of the reasons she loves running the Dance Hall. It gives people something to do and have fun.
Tender- She's soft hearted and loves the simple things in life like sunsets and silly names. She can be extremely affectionate at times and wants people to feel valued for existing, which can make things a little hard when she's upset with someone because eventually she does feel extremely guilty about it.
Hot Headed- Being stubborn and tender means she can take things personally at times and that can trigger her fight or flight...which is mostly fight. She has a quick temper that can pop at any minute. She hates it but it seems to be something that she can't control, even now.
Push Over- Despite all these conflicting aspects of her personality Sunny can be a push over, especially when it comes to her daughter and the ones who hold a close spot in her heart. It's lead to self sacrificing and frustration that, most of the time, leads her to regret her actions.
Mama went off and left him
She wanted more from life than he could give
I said, somebody's got to take care of him
So, I quit school and that's what I did
You got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away?
Still gotta make a decision
Leave tonight, or live and die this way
Young, wild, and free. That's what her early years were like. Sunny grew up an only child to Fisher and Anita Day who fully took advantage of their last name to give their daughter a name that was a good play on words. Her name used to embarrass her as a child until she learned to embrace it, making jokes and goofing around, oblivious to her parents marital struggles until she was in her early teens. Up until then she didn't understand that her fathers fluctuating personality was all thanks to alcohol until one day she woke up to find that her mother was gone, only a note left behind with her wedding ring. Sunny was only thirteen at the time but grew up quick, learning how to cook, clean, and take care of her father as he nursed the bottle, often snapping at her for not doing anything right. She hadn't seen her Dad like this before and as time went on she started to grow numb to it, falling into routine of school and taking care of her father until she was old enough to work and pull in an income once her fathers drinking got so bad that he couldn't work.
She tried not to resent him for this but she dreamt of leaving this small town to become a professional singer. Even though it felt foolish to have such an out of reach dream she couldn't help but imagine that one day she could get picked up by a talent agent and taken away from this life that she had asked for. Instead of continuing to reach for the stars she found something else all together.

So, I remember when we were driving, driving in your car
Speed so fast, I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped around my shoulder
And I,had a feeling that I belonged
I had a feeling I could be someone
You got a fast car
We go cruising, entertain ourselves
You still ain't got a job
So I work in a market as a checkout girl
Sunny was fresh in high school when she met Thomas but the two clicked almost instantly. She was charmed by his goofy personality and got swept up in the wonder of a friendship that turned into something more. They used to spend late nights together, going for rides and sleeping under the stars. When life got too hard Sunny was able to go to Thomas, finding him becoming her safe space and making life more bearable. They were the definition of high school sweethearts, defying the odds that were pitted against them, including an unplanned pregnancy when Sunny was only sixteen. Her father wasn't happy and she didn't give a shit about her mom who was still mia, all she cared about was raising this baby the best she could and with Thomas by her side she felt that it was possible that they could pull it off.
And they did, even though it was extremely hard at times. Sunny gave up her dream of becoming a singer, instead working odd jobs here and there to help make ends meat, eventually settling at the Dance Hall, a place where, as it's named, was a place for people to dance, sing karaoke, drink, and in general have fun. She enjoyed working there, so much so that when the original owner was going to retire she offered the chance to buy the Dance Hall and continue on its legacy. It took an awful lot of convincing but Sunny was able to take the deal, running her own business that kept up its success and brought her pride.
During this time she wanted to show her daughter that nothing could hold her back and that she would always be there for her but as time passed things started to become...strained in the family. Sunny was spending more nights at the Dance Hall and less time at home with her now husband and daughter and when she was home there was often arguments between herself and Thomas that they managed to hide from their daughter. Sunny always put Reign first and didn't want her to see any negativity, even though it got harder and harder until eventually....when Reign graduated high school and went to college Sunny and Thomas...divorced. Their relationship too estranged after time apart and though her heart aches she chalks it up to this being the first time she's been single in well, years, she busies herself with work but nothing seems to fill the hallow spot in her heart.

I know things will get better
You'll find work and I'll get promoted
We'll move out of the shelter
Buy a bigger house, live in the suburbs
You got a fast car
I got a job that pays all our bills
You stay out drinking late at the bar
See more of your friends than you do of your kids
